Here's an interesting tidbit I read in the article regarding the $ amount the estate will profit as it relates to streaming revenue:

"In February, his songs streamed 12.7 million times in the first week they became available. Even if that number were to drop by half, his estate would still make about $2.4 million a year just off streaming revenue, based on average pay rates."

That's a tad more than the pennies some have claimed will be made.

And to add to that:

"The streaming numbers also indicate that a younger generation of music fans is latching on to Prince’s music. This will put his legacy up there with a personal hero who is among rock’s most enduring dead legends."

More good news!

All these people that rail against streaming...this is where young people are. You need to go to them they're not coming to you. I want young people to experience and enjoy his music. I don't want to save it for a small number of die herds who only own physical media.

--Actually it is. You realize that is it even 50 cent a stream and taxes will eat half of the 2 million. The only think I can think is that estate maybe got some money up front like Prince did with Tidal. Now that the estate will have to give back 30 million the 6 or 12 that should have been coming is really needed. The second half of the estate tax is going to come due and large chunk of money is to pay it is gone.

Guess what? BFD.....that is 50 cents more than what they had by not doing it. Regarding the taxes, that's par for the course.

Seriously, do you have to pollute every. single. thread. with your negativity and bs? G*ddamn....I swear.

Chump change compared to what? Sorry very few people still buy physical copies of media. That's just how it is in the 21st century. When Prince was still here he could make money via touring. That's not an option any more.
