Respect the Artist & Artists he recognized. Its hurts when folks put him down. He's no longer able to fight the fight 4 the quality of his work. APK is asking please support the art. APk is in some bizare twist of busines art & fate the senior Keyboardist on the Paisley Park Label. Do you your home work on MAZRATI, the first band signed by Prince to his new label, and then you'll know who APK is. Enough about me. It hurts when folks trivialize a truly great man and artist. Here's what APK got 2 say. Never saw him high. Never saw him not throw down, bring it, get butts up and dancing. Im talkng West High School Sady Hawkins Dance 1975. The Band GRAND CENTRAL STATION. Prince guitar and Vox, Andre Cymone, Bass and Vox, Morris on Drums, and Andre's Sister played organ. On the gym floor, Drums on a riser, coffee can lights, Shurre Vocal master PA..... Throwing down, Shit Gawd Dam Get off your ass and jam, Roller Coaster, KC and the SUnshine Band, Ohio PLayers, Cameo, SLY, Parliment, everybody in the gym dancing. respect that. DO ME Baby. First time in my Life I took note of a band's "original song". Respect that. Yeah the rest is history. He played. He gave. HE came back to Minneapolis and helped out the Time, Jimmy and Terry, MAZARATI, the Family, and hundreds of others you may never hear about. Forget about contracts, lawyers, trademarks and he-said-she-said-they-said-the-press-said. LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. CAN U FELL IT? DANCE. LOVE. MUSIC SEX ROMANCE enjoy..... He only wanted to C U laughing in the Purple Rain... did you ever C him not give it all? I did'nt. When we play he is still there comimng through our finger tips, our vioces, the snap of our necks, the stomp of our feet. Yeah we were all there. Yeah it takes a village to raise a ruckus groove. He was,and still is our Tribal Chief. Please speak with the respect he deserves.
He literally worked himself to death, playing for all of us. What more do u want. Respect the music.
Peace

Great to see people who knew him speak up. Anyone can see the charater smear that is going on in the media. Taking away from his work ethic.

Hey Militant. A little revolt is ggod from time to time. Don't let anybody just think they gotcha.
Screamer played guitar. That's "Craig Screamer Powell", APK's favorite guitar player of all time. It the no boundaries love of all music, FUNK, METAL, ROCK.POP, Country Blues... we share a love of groove. You have to ask him. Songs come from many places, basement bedrooms, ` parties. They are recorded several times in this case. First a Demo, then maybe a more elaborate studio setup. And finally in this case after Warner Brothers gave Prince his own label, he called it Paisley Park nds signed MAZARATI. This is what happened, Cal (Kevin Patrick) played it on the demos, and MARK ROGER BROWN, the Bassist of the Revolution, and the Producer of MAZARATI choose to play drums on Strawberry Lover.
Its a great tune, we played is for Mark yesterday. Hes in town with the Revolution rehearsing for the Spring Tour. We will all celebrate Prince this week at Paisley Park. Johnny Strutt is playing drums this week. Guitar parts that prince played pon MAZARATI first record. "Guess Its All OVer". Screamer has a graet story about that. Some Cat with a hundred year old masterpiece of an acoustic 12 string, brought it into the studio and handed it to Prince. He sat right in front of Prince like ready to cradle the instrument should Prince wish to set it down. Prince played that solo, like the angel of music he is and was...... Screamer plays it now on a Pearl White Gibson SG Double-neck, 12 string upper, 6 string lower, pretty much the MAZARATI equivalent of Jimmy Pages Double neck SG used on Stairway To Heaven. True its not an acoustic. But MAZARATI plays pretty loud live, the Acoustic would not work. Ah but just sp you know, Screamer & APK play often just acoustic, that might be a cool set. MAZARATI unplugged. Our Lennon Morrison TONY CHRISTIAN likes to unplug and feel it as well..... Maybe this summer you get to see what we talking about. Peace APK

I think u know allready from his music, the lyric, the open challanges to all to be free honest and correct. I dont know how old you are but I think Regan was president when Dirty Mind, Contreversy, 1999, and Purple Ran came to be. Prince wrote ideas and spread hope throught a nation and world that did not always want to include all. It was a joy to be allowed to express, and be listened to. He would come into the intimate clubs we would play, packed at 150. He would sneak in, go to Front of House, and fix the mix. Then leave before the set ended, so we couldnt talk to him. A shy Artist practicing his craft. We were all getting high, except Screamer, but not Prince,. HE was allways at"WORK".
No its not Prince its Screamer on Strawberry Lover. Prince played the solo on Guess Its All over.
Im repeating myself, night all.

Now, almost one year later, life is completely different , and at the same time still completely the same. (totaliter aliter) And -Bassette prefers talking in first person singular about herself - yes APK, I can feel it. I can feel it. I just find it all so tragical, so sad.

Thank you for confirming. I always thought it was Prince on "Strawberry Lover" - I know he worked on the lyrics. Awesome to know that it's Mark on drums and Craig on guitar. Also great to know Prince played on "I Guess It's All Over" - the bass is the real star of that song - guess that must be Mark?
Where is Terry Casey these days? |

Prince Fan & grooving our music everyday. All APK asks is "can u feel it?'" Thank you for the post. This made me smile and laugh today. The points you have said is one big reason why I will not pick up a magazine nor will I watch one of those programs endorsing his life. Much love and respect and wish you the best as we get through the week.
