Here's the unboxing video. Forgive my voice - I'd only been awake about 30 minutes when I made the video. The site is simple, not meant to win awards; just provide a landing place.
The Paisley Park book looks ... underwhelming. Would love to have seen more photos from inside the building. It is not soley a recording studio.
I purposely didn't show all the books. I flipped through it. Each book is between 85-100 pages, so there is plenty to look at. And there are maybe 4 pages total with only words.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

For what's in there, and how well they're laid out, designed, and manufactured, I think the price is a good buy.

No photos from upstairs. There are a few cool photos of Paisley Park under constructions. There are recent photos of the atrium, Studio A, Studio B, and Love 4 One Another/NPGMC room. TRUE BLUE |

I had bought the tamboracca and after about 2 weeks of nothing, I emailed them and it was shipped the next day. Sometimes I think they need a little nudge. I should have just bought it at PP, but when I ordered it I wasn't sure if they would have them in stock. They are horrible about answering emails.
I ordered two of these back in March and never heard anything from PP. After reading this I emailed them asking ,where's my order? They replied 2 days later and said they're shipping them out on Monday ( which is today). Let's see if i get them this week. What's up with Paisley Park? I want to support what they're doing and I appreciate them offering these items for sale, but we shouldn't have to " nudge" them to ship out what we already paid for. PP needs to get it together with merchandising |

I think at some point we'll see the upstairs, but anytime soon - forget it. The pic of Prince on the tub in his bathroom w/ the dog is as close as we'll get for now. And that's assuming it's the quarters at PP, and not the Galpin house (the photo was taken by Mayte presumably).

My two ordered books - the Paisley Park tour book and the guitar book - arrived yesterday.
.
Last night I cracked open the guitar volume. The layout is simple but crisp. The photos are excellent. The guitar selection is incredible. The comments are informative.
.
As a die-hard fan, it was completely and utterly worth the money. It will take its place on my shelf next to my Kubrick and Dali books. |

Unfortunately I now want these even more than I did before (and that was a lot) - these look real nice. Unfortunately, being an overseaser (UK) I'll have to wait until PP get their shiz together with the International Shipping. I hope they don't sell out of these in the meantime...

I'm pleased you guys have enjoyed the video. I've thought of doing videos for each specific book, but not sure yet. I don't want to invade too much copyright on PP. But, the site is there until further notice.
Also, you can share the shortened URL with whoever: http://bit.ly/unboxingprince Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

There is a lot of very interesting stuff in the captions, etc. One of his main clothing makers comments a lot in the book. There are great pics of stuff up close that truly show the detail put into his clothes. There are a lot of sketches and the final product. I was surprised to see the Purple Rain jacket is corduroy. There is even one unfinished blouse in there.
The same goes for the guitars. I never realized Wendy's guitar in "Raspberry Beret" had that flourish painted on it, but it did. I inserted a photo still from the video over that part. There's even a note about how often Prince was abusive to his guitars on stage and they had to be repaired a lot.
Paisley Park book has great facts about the whole place and some early construction photos which are fascinating to me. One is the main hallway you see downstairs, just past the stairway, that he walked down with Oprah past his gold & platinum records. The sound stage construction is shown, too.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Thank you.

Just watched your video and wanted to comment that the hardcover tourbook is different than the other tourbook, the purple one with on the front cover. It has pics of Paisley Park also, but more pics of Prince from different eras.
Thanks TrivialPursuit for that AWESOME unboxing video!
Motherfunka: do you mean that the softcover version has more pics? Or the hardcover? One can read your message in two ways
Thanks! |

The hardcover one has more pics and pages. The softcover one has more pics of Prince. They are different books though. TrivialPursuit was wondering if they were the same book. TRUE BLUE |

That's a pretty cool idea. I might do that.
And I do produce videos on the regular, often in front of the camera and I play producer to others.

Well I'm still waiting for Roadhouse Garden to be released - maybe that will happen before international shipping. LOL
.
On a slightly more serious note, we can wait and wait and wait, and then find key items like these books are out of stock.
.
For example, all of the celebration merchandise is no longer on the website, so I think it is important to get items when you can!.
.
This kinda sounds like a public service announcement LOL
