You should study up on your Prince history. It's well documented that when he was making 1999, he had access to a large sound effect library, and had fun using it. It's why you hear the baby at the end of "Delirious", the traffic sounds on "Lady Cab Driver", etc.

I used to edit porn back around 1999 or so. Our music guy came in with a sound effect set that was branded from Sony. It had the boxing sample from Pop Life, and the baby sample from Delirious. I think the sound effect set is still available.

We didn't use those sounds. I don't remember what I used.
