Unofficial Albums? I wuz wondering, B-ing a nu Prince fan and still N the process of collecting his catalog, what is tha deal with some of these albums that show up N some discographies and not others?
I'm talkin' bout discs such as "Gold Nigga" "1-800-NEW-FUNK" "Exodus" and "Girl 6". So what's tha verdict, who's got tha N-fo? "They can legislate til their pens run dry

"Goldnigga", "Exodus" and "1-800-New-Funk" were sold primarily through 1-800-New-Funk. Girl 6 was the soundtrack to the movie by the same name that featured all Prince songs by Prince himself and related artists. [This message was edited Tue Apr 8 15:56:54 PDT 2003 by LittlePill]

Gold Nigga is an album billed to the New Power Generation. It features Tony M rapping on most of the tracks. Exodus is also billed to the NPG, but features either Sonny T or Prince on lead vocals (Prince is billed as "Tora Tora").
1-800-New Funk was a sampler CD, featuring various artists on NPG (or related artists performing tracks written by Prince). The Prince/ Nona Gaye duet "Lovesign" is from this compilation. Girl 6 Is the soundtrack to the Spike Lee film. All the music is by Prince or related artists, but only three tracks were new. Hope his answered all your questions. We need a Prince.org discography!!! There was a nice Prince discography on NPGMC for a while (or was it on L4OA?) with associated artists and album art and the whole shebang...anyone remember that?

Yeah...the one that had the words "contractual obligation" stamped across 'Chaos & Disorder' & 'The Vault'!

Thx my man, that 1 was buggin me bigtime. So basically most of them are albums for his backup band ta shyne correct? I agree wit tha othas, this place needs a discography, the most all-time happenin comprehensive list C. 1 that explains these things and explains how & why Prince considers Chaos, Vault, and the Black album redhedded stepchildren so 2 speak. I wouldn't say that because Prince still does most of the stuff on the albums. You also have New Power Soul under the NPG name. He considers some of the albums "redhedded stepchildren" because he didn't want to do them, he only did them to fulfill his contract that WB wouldn't let him out of.
