My Name is Prince - Kirk J Remix??? I recall seeing a cd promo of this years ago (maybe 2009ish) and was wondering if anyone had heard it? I imagine this would be one of the first remixes he did before the Purple Medley project. Princevault doesn't list it which has got me thinking my mind's now playing tricks... |

You could have your wires crossed. Even Discogs doesn't show an issue of the song's single with a remix by Kirk. Keith Cohen did most of those remixes back in the day.
Could you be thinking of him working on a remix of "Sexy MF" for the MNIP maxi single? Or just crossing with his B-side mix for The Purple Medley?
Did you just see the promo in 2009, or do you believe it was issued in 2009? Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Ah, should have been clearer. I came across it in 2009 but it was from '92/The Love Symbol period. It reminded me of the MNIP CHR promo or something in-house (read: rare). It definitely wasn't related to The Purple Medley project. Really wish I made a screengrab now |

Roger that. Well, I did look at Discogs, and didn't see anything (even a non-label promo, etc) that had a Kirk J remix of that on it. However, it was a secondary track or something, God knows where to find it on there.

Yeah, I looked at all the usual suspects and didn't come across anything. Then again, Princevault doesn't list everything that's out there... At the top of my head, the aforementioned CHR edit isn't listed either. |

It's not unthinkable that a promo may have gone under the radar, things do appear on Princevault on a regular basis due to new discoveries.
It could also have been an in-house, in which case it wouldn't be listed on my site anyway.
The surprising thing is that such a remix would have most likely been circulating on bootlegs even if it wasn't known to have existed on a promo.
I hope someone can clarify this. |

Ah, I wasn't aware you didn't list in-house stuff. Thanks for clarifying databank. I came across it on the UK website madhousemusic which I don't think is running any more. It could be worth dropping the owner (I've forgot his name) a line anyway to see if he remembers... |

Yes, I don't list in-houses (or deleted records such as the original TBA or Milk & Honey) as they were not intended to be made available to the public in the first place, I only list things that we (the public) were supposed to hear through one channel or another.
Let me know if you get any additional info, it's an intriguing finding |
