I love it, too! I'm still amused that he mentions Santa Fe in the chorus. I just can't picture Prince in Santa Fe, LOL.

I love this track.

I love songs that make me take my time and listen

This is one of those tracks, and was a perfect connection to the Dream Factory concept

It's such a great pop song. Mavis' version was pretty good, but some of the aural traveling elements were missing. I'd even trade out "It" on SOTT for "Train", if a song had to go to make place for it.

Frankly, it would have fit on the 2nd side of ATWIAD, too. It has that 85/86 sound on it, that makes it so great. It groups with things like "All My Dreams", "Anotherloverholenyohead", and "Strange Relationship".

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

.
Have you been there?
It's nothing like Sheridan, Wyoming.
Santa Fe is the urbane capital of New Mexico and in an area where stars can walk around unbothered -- and many live there. Even Oprah, Jane Fonda, Shirley MacClaine, designer Tom Ford, Val Kilmer, Julia Roberts, etc.
While the Pueblo scene there doesn't fit P, the vibe and artistry would have.
.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

We've had a house in Angel Fire, NM since 1997. I spend about 2 to 2.5 months out of the year there, with frequent trips to Santa Fe. I absolutely LOVE New Mexico!

I don't know. My experience there, playing music and living there part of the year for so long, just doesn't convince me Prince would have liked it. I just don't think it would click but I could be wrong; I often am, in fact!

P. S.: Julia Roberts has a place in Taos, not Santa Fe. At least, she used to.

This song I feel is a really cool link to the Parade/Under the Cherry Moon - Dream Factory progression.
It feels like Prince the Charlie Chaplin hobo player on the road moving state 2 state, country 2 country trying to make it in life with all kinds of adventures along the way...

Train made me a Prince fan.

I remember having a greatest hits collection and the Dream Factory bootleg (Thunderballs?). Once I hear train - the diverse range of vocals, the amazing guitar work and those fucking horn arrangement - I thought "If this is the quality of Prince's outtakes... Wow!". It's an absolute gem.

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Absolutely love that track. He wrote such great pop songs. Such depth, creativity and far from conventional. I remember when I was 14, having that track on a cheap MP3 player that could only hold about 10 songs. Listened to it on repeat all summer. Moonbeam Levels, Thieves In The Temple (acoustic demo), Good Love, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Train, Venus De Milo. I had a couple of songs from different artist on there too.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

I agree. It is the song from the Dream Factory that should have made it to SOTT.
