Best EXXXtedned Version of HOT THING??

What is it?

The 8:33 version?

There is only one extended version, the other is a Dub mix. I don't care for either. The album version is good enough.

Ditto here. It was the first Prince 12" that made me go, "hey... waitaminnit!" mad

I agree with you both - this is easily the only 80s era extended version that I rarely revisit. And the only one I can think of that was better in album version form.

Well, there were the earlier "Disco Mix" versions of "Soft and Wet" and "Just as Long as We're Together," remixed by Jim Burgess. But those are pretty faithful to the LP versions, just mixed a bit differently.

One interesting thing about this extended version, though, is that it contains a (technically incorrectly named) "G-flat major with an E on the bass". So we can only assume that when P heard it, it "took [his] mind out"! razz

If I recall correctly, Soft and Wet has an additional bassline - which is why I don't like it. It just gets in the way...

I don't think so. Bass is just mixed louder.
