Best Response to Playing a Prince Song for a Friend? The other night, I played my girlfriend the title track to 'Lovesexy' and when it was done she said: "I'm not sure what just happened!"
I told her that song was Prince at his highest point of 'Princeness.' What's your favorite story about blowing somebody's mind with a Prince song?

Lovesexy was the song i "played" in my head when I ran in the ARMY during the 2 mile PT test. I was a fast runner... "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

I didn't play it, but being a Monday at work we were all bummed out, and someone started singing the song Manic Monday. Of course I was like,  Ya know, Prince wrote that song. Everyone gave me the side eye, because they all know my purple obsession. They were all, yeah sure huh uh... Until Google schooled them...

Even if they love Prince. This morning my son was playing a pokemon game. At one point he found a yellow pokeball containing an item called elixer.
Out of the blue he then started humming the chorus to Prince's song Elixer...I thought it was so cool! Taught him well, [Edited 3/25/17 5:18am] 'cause you got to know...how I feel about you babe | |

.June of last year, I took a friend to Spike Lee's tribute in Brooklyn. Chris isn't much of a Prince fan aside from Purple Rain, but the man can (and did) dance his ass off all day. We danced to Lady Cab Driver, sang the lyrics to Darling Nikki at the top of our lungs, on and on. On the train on the way home, we split a pair of headphones and I played him every filthy song I had. He was like, "I had no idea Prince did this kind of music. Where have I been??" Chris is a closet freak. I love that about him. And now his freaky has a soundtrack.  And the MUSIC continues...forever... | |

Not sure where this thread is going  But just wanted to say that's a great story!! I am envious of people who get to hear such songs for the first time and I wish that those around me would be interested enough in Prince to let me play songs like this for them!! |

I remember the day I took a co-worker out to my car at lunchtime so she could hear the song 'Solo' from the Come album. She loved Prince but hadn't heard this particular song or album yet. So, I played 'Solo' and at the end she burst into tears and said it was the most beautiful song she had ever heard. | |

One of them is: a few years ago a friend was in the backseat, 17 Days came on, and after about 30 seconds into he yelled "Is this Prince?!"
He had never heard that song in all these years and was feeling it. I made him a copy and he went out and got more of the catalogue. "Climb in my fur." | |
