Everyday or almost every day i sat in front of my Prince collection and spend minutes trying to decide what album i'm going to listen to, it's hard since he has sooo many, and at least i consider 20 of them great or excellent. Even my least favortite albums include many good songs. I would like to know how you guys decide what album you will play. It depends on the mood maybe, or you always play certain albums you like the most, or the opposite, you try to rediscover the ones you like the least.

Sorry if this sounds stupid. I don't speak in english but i try to express myself the best i can.

Shuffle button for me. OR I always go with anything before 1997. I love the 80s stuff, but I often pick a random one from the 90s.

I do all the things you mention.

But lately I let iTunes shuffle my playlists.

It's still a work in progress but I have each album in it's own playlist (including bootlegs, etc)and everything is loaded into iTunes so I can listen from my Macbook or Macbook Pro laptops, iPhone or iPod.

Unless I'm in the mood to hear something specific or feel that I've heard the same thing too many times in a short time period, I just let iTunes play whatever.

Having so much lovely P music to choose from is a nice problem to have, isn't it?

i lost my ipod with almost all of his studio albums on it, but before that, i was listening to either his pre purple rain stuff or his late stuff, his late stuff I really loved because it's just so much more mature than the rest of his stuff.

I usually have a song going in my head that I wanna hear first. Then I just go anywhere from there. it's ALL good.

- When I have my phone (a BlackBerry that is 2+ years old), I don't have as much of a selection, mainly just PR, SOTT, D&P and a couple songs from 1999. Basically, I need a new phone.

- When I'm exercising, I like upbeat songs like LRC, Live 4 Love, Gett Off, Cream, I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man, LGC, IWD4U. When I'm stretching, I'll play some slower songs.

For the last 11 months, I have avoided anything pre-1992. Yesterday during a very long ride with my cycle group, Lovesexy was in my head. Today, I listened to Lovesexy, Graffiti Bridge, Prince, and Purple Rain (the cover I could not look at without crying).

I guess I needed some spring sunshine and a 10 hours of nothing but my deepest thoughts.

I utilise a complex mathematical algorithm which factors in the day of the week, the time of day, how many calories I have consumed in the last 24 hours, likelihood of sexual activity in the next 60 minutes, room temperature, the current weather forecast, the 6 most recent home results of my favourite football team and my wifes menstrual cycle....just like everyone else.
