Right now, I think it is the 1983 version of We Can Funk

I wonder if there is a way to clean it up so that the sound quality is better.

Hmmm, my favorite song? I think that if I could only listen to one song the rest of my life, it would be "Take Me With U".

You must have read my mind, because I was just thinking about asking this question. Like, what would be your go-to, default, "OMG I LOVE THAT SONG SO MUCH" track?

There is 80s Prince, and 90s Prince, and aughts Prince.

80s Prince is "D.M.S.R.".

90s Prince is "Endorphinmachine".

Aughts Prince is "3121".

Pick just one - "D.M.S.R."

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Mine changes every day, but I'm really into Hello, early versions of We Can Funk, Mountains and Witness 4 the Prosecution right now.

Of all time: When Doves Cry (picked this up on 7" vinyl when it came out...was floored by it...it took him to the stratosphere...and he has provided the soundtrack of my life ever since!!)

Currently Most Played (and most in my hair...pun definitely intended!!) is She's Always In My Hair (Montreux 2013)! This version is incredible!!!! Always loved the song, but it is amazing that almost 30 years after it was released he could blow my mind with this version!! (and I love seeing him smile and have fun while he's playing it too)! music music music

Right now: EMPTY ROOM

But there are so many others I can't live without - WDC, PR, Let's Work, The Bautiful Ones, Computer Blue, Anna Stesia, Joy In Repetition, P Control, 319, Letitgo, Breakdown, Way Back Home, ANY song that includes the phrase "I love u baby" - to name a FEW of the top contenders wink

It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Adorecream

Adore, been my favourite since I first heard it on Hits/Bsides back in early 94 (I came to the Prince party late) and it is just a perfect ballad. Prince is overjoyed and in love, I love the vocal melodies, the overdubs and the feel.

.

He made it even more lovable when he played that song and looked at me in Auckland. He kind of knew I loved it through having one of his PP staffers watch my Youtube video and I think that may have influenced him to play it. Probably not, but I like to dream. I would have loved to been in gthe studio when Prince came up with that song. What was he thinking and how did the words to Adore come to him, and especially when he got the brainflash to record at least 15 backing tapes of him overdubbing the line "Nothing could compare 2 ur loving face". And of course the lines in the background "I'll be there for you baby, until the end of time. cool

.

I will love that song til the end of time.

You do really love that song, don't you? and how not, everyone in their right mind would love that masterpiece of a song. Just for the vocal performance alone, beautiful piece of music.

How could this even be a question on here? It's overwhelming lol

Lol nah but seriously it might have to be When Doves Cry.

Call me a casual or a poser all ya want. That synth line, drum machine, ripping guitar, combined with the erotic/bitter lyrics, it's THE perfect pop song.

Plus it was the very first Prince song I ever heard, 7 years old, so maybe it's a lil bit of nostalgia too biggrin

I can say, I never appreciated ADORE until after I read along with the lyrics. Then everytime I heard that song afterwards, I would love it more and more.

I wonder if anyone was in the same boat as me? I always enjoyed a song because of it's "beat" and not because of the lyrics, so to hear a song like Adore, without knowing the words, is to hear some very unique inflections throughout a slower jam song.

Now, I can recite these lyrics by heart, and this is crowned my favorite Prince song of all time!

ADORE
