I think it meant that he was ready for his final phase and that was him announcing it. Prince knew he was sick. Addiction is a sickness. He knew his time was shirt and his purpose on this earth had been served. There is a photo taken days before his death at his piano with the "many faces of Prince" behind him representing every year of his career. His shirt has the "Eternal Phase" Prince. In the photo, Prince looks to be on the doorstep of death. His entire career us behind him. The Eternal Phase avatar is gaunt, purplish skin, eyes closed with the third eye open.
