In many ways Prince borrowed from other artists, as already stated above...

Robert Palmer - Cream is Addicted to Love...

always thought "U Got the Look" was his way of taking the vibe of "Addicted to Love" and making it into a Prince song (it also sounds like the same sessions as the music in "Bob George" with the chord progression and guitar improv up front throughout.)

I thought Cream was a riff off of "Bang a Gong" the original... which interestingly was covered by The Power Station with Robert Palmer singing. But their remake took it into different territory in a very cool way.

i think Cream sounds more like one T Rex song

Right, "Bang a Gong"

"Cream" may be inspired by "Get It On" (song title) by T Rex nod

I'm listening to that one, and I can hear a similiarity in the slower pacing and space between lyrics... but "Bang a Gong" is truly more the inspiration. The lyrics are directed to "you"... include "You're dirty sweet and you're my girl" related to "You're filthy cute and baby you know it"

Even The Power Station had it listed correctly, IMO:

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

So that is the reason why Sussudio is one of my favorite PC's song is because of the Purple Flavor mixed in the song. biggrin
