This albums an absolute gem. I'd love to see the title track live, as well as the fantastic Annie Christian, the legendary Jack U Off and also Sexuality.

It'd beat Raspberry Beret... surely!

I've heard him do material from Controversy Live.

I think he sometimes does 'Do, me baby'
But, it's not one of his best albums. Some of the songs have no melody (Annie Christian) and others are so trite (Jack you off)
The title song is one of his best ever though! At his Irish concert, during the point where he brings fans up onstage (For 'All the critics love you in Dublin!); some girl shouted into the microphone "Do Controversy!" He said "This ain't TRL!"

that's almost impossible with no swearing. It would be
nice though. Judging from what I've heard these past few
months I think Renato could make the keys sound so eerie
one would be inclined to shit one's pants.

Year 1 of the NPGMC gave you the Controversy/Mutiny live video from the Hit N Run tour.

he often used to play tracks from Controversy.
Controversy, Let's Work & Do Me, Baby still
are played live quite regularly.

In fact the only song from Controversy that I've
never heard him perform live is Ronnie Talk To
Russia.

Gainsbourg is right, its far from a top Prince album. True it has a couple of all time classic cuts, but theres also some really embarrassing stuff on there. Ronnie Talk To Russia, Jack U Off, Annie Christian. These tracks only get worse with time.
Oh, and yes I do own all his 12" and over 300 boots, so I hope that entitles me to an opinion (and it is just that) on this thread.

I have the Controversy concert live in Houston on video and he plays a good amount of the music from that album...
