Just picked up a bass to noodle on. What are some of Prince's best tracks featuring some tasty bass?

I so far am thinking La, La, La, Hee, Hee Hee (HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE), Calhoon Square, Whats my Name, 777-9311 and oddly enough, Betcha By Golly Wow has some sweet bass.

Any other obvious and not so obvious picks?

Definitely a good call. I remember when Prince played this track at the last 2007 O2 aftershow, and stopped the band because the bass line was just too funky. Now that was a bassline!!

--But Andre was working for Prince and I cannot understand why so many people worked for Prince and never asked for credit for their work. In some cases like Mirris Day they took cash in lieu of publishing. Who fault is that?

André says he was sort of naive about the business side and considering that every musical idea by everyone was sort of thrown in a collective pot. In any case I don't think he'd have seen himself suing Prince, I mean even if the relationship had become tense those dudes had been like brothers for years, you don't sue your bro.

Later on things got clearer: Prince had his musicians sign contract basically saying that he was to make the call when any idea that appeared during rehearsal justified a co-writing credit or not.

Anyway my point wasn't about morality but the historical perspective. It's not my place to say who was right or wrong and I don't really care. But if André came-up with that bassline I'm glad that I know about it and I felt it was worth sharing the info.
