I was watching a live video from Copenhagen 2011 and saw something (item #3), and it triggered this list:

1. Drink water or anything else
2. Use a capo
3. Have a string not perfectly wound on the machine head
4. Drop a pick
5. Use open tuning on a guitar
6. Break a string while playing

What else have you never seen Prince do, that most all other performing musicians do onstage?

(It probably won't do any good, but I'm asking for replies that deal with professional things like above. I know none of us has ever seen Prince bite the head off a bat or wear a meat suit.)

He broke a couple of strings during "Peach" on The Sacrifice of Victor after show. He was playing hard on that one.

He's at least thrown a pick during The Beautiful Experience taping. It landed on some dude's hat.

Yesterday I watched a show he did with Tamar. He drank water several times during the show

I mean, he threw it down. I don't know if it really broke in half or something. I've seen him throw guitars further and harder and not break. He basically yanked it off and threw it on the ground in front of him. The sound was shorting out on it, and it was quickly replaced with another one so he could solo. But - what an emotional moment. The video (a bad audience recording) was leaked last year. It was really something to see.

Nah, it was the yellow cloud. Matched his outfit. I think he was amped up. It was the last song of the set, and he probably as just hyped up.

I'm sending myself 2 the corner. After I said that and U mentioned that show I just dug out my copy and watched Peach. No clue how I could forget it was the yellow cloud that matched that banana yellow outfit.

Looks like a few strings broke and he does throw the cloud down super hard from being so amped. So much energy in that show thanx 4 reminding me.

I remembered something else I don't think I've ever seen Prince do: Make a complete barre chord.

I've never seen Prince make a full barre chord, meaning he never "barred" his pointer finger all the way across the neck.

FWIW, I try to never make them either. I don't think they look cool. I can't stand watching a rhythm guitar player spend all night running his fingers in the same chord shape up and down the neck.

I made the mistake of watching and I wish I had not. When you go back and look at how much he jumped, ran, and fell it breaks your heart. I see him as a look of professional atheletes who get hurt take their meds and keep going not realizing that sometimes you have to quit.
