She's not. She's psychologically damaged from being raped and beaten by priests and nuns. Remember the SNL photo tearing up of the Pope? Turns out she was right about that.

true? or are you being facetious?

Actually, if I remember correctly, wasn't the tearing up of the Pope's picture on SNL incident about abortion rights?

To be fair. Just coz she's retracted this, she's not retracting the other accusations. I think she quite happily stands by those.

And I quite happily give her "other accusations" 0% credence and 100% side-eye. Never believed it; never will.

I'm not saying they're true I'm just saying I don't think she will retract that story. One because she's spun it for years n wouldn't dare retract it. Secondly Prince has gone n is not a threat.

---She actually did retract the story once already and when she retold it again she added he had lasers shooting out of his eyes.

Yes, but wasn't it because of the Pope/Catholic church's stance on abortion?

At the time, I think she mentioned that when the media/public was so upset with her.

Not a judgement, simply clarifying for those who are like me and not so clear about the details of that long ago incident.

i thought it was about child molestation within the catholic church. Sometimes Sinead can actually be thoughtful, but she carries things too far. Apparently, in Ireland, they sometimes like to spin tall tales. Its sort of a cultural thing. I think she is absolutely guilty of this--mixed in with paranoid tendencies (bipolar disorder) and a rebellious streak. She lied her ass off about Prince probably because he dissed her for covering his song and her emotional investment in that song was so overpowering (she sang it to refer to her dead mother I believe), she lashed out at him. Maybe, her telling the story in various and more hyperbolic ways was in fact her indicating it was a tall tale of sorts.

Plus, her wearing that stupid shirt with an Alfalfa-looking black caricature on it to her interview with Arsenio Hall in the 1990's. That struck me as offensive.

lol lol lol WTF are you talking about?

I'm glad this was redacted but there'll likely be more crazy stories out of her before long, it's not my place to judge what she should and should not do but good god keep her off facebook eek

The Pope ripping picture was about child abuse, molestation, rape, the hypocricy of the cover up and the abuse of power byt the Catholic church. I'm not saying Sinead aint nuts but she wasn't born that way. Corporal punishment, rape and the exploitation of children under the auspice of God...

Man, if I believed in heaven and hell I'd like to think there's a special place in the firey one for so many of these creeps.

And people crucify her for that, yet she was way ahead of the crowd in calling that shit out in such a big way (on national television). She went viral before we knew that was a thing.

There were public cases in the late 80s that were widely covered. Yet, it still seems the whole thing didn't pick up steam until the late 90s or early aughts. Perhaps that is partly because of the internet and the almost immediate streams of news stories, things going viral, etc. It was certainly not on my radar until the late 90s. Even Sinead's act didn't really make it click in my head. I figured she was just being anti-religious in her own way, the same way Madonna tried to use religion to be provocative.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
