I agree. Its just so mournful. If you look at the words written down, its just gibberish really... But when you hear it, you can't help but sing along. Its the ONLY Prince song that makes me cry. I don't just mean sniffle, I mean the crying you get where you start to gargle on your own snot. The only other piece of entertainment which has a comparable effect on me is "Imitation Of Life" - my favourite film of all time. | |

Empty Room is a very feeling song - I would post this as a new topic if I could but I have expelled by maximum threads today (!) - If anyone wants to post this as a new thread feel free!
Empty Room - The lyrics, and the music, is sooo feeling, I find it strange how Prince has kept coming back to the song -I dunno he either hasn't got over the subject matter, or he is clear that it is a beautiful song and hs detatched himself from the songs lyrics - To repeat such a hurtful process over and over is bizarre to me. That song is one of very few Prince songs that exerts a universal truth. Prince is great at expressing his opinion in song, but a universal truth is different to an opinion - and this song makes me feel like I have been raped emotionally everytime I listen to it. I have had relationships end bad before, so I dig the feeling, maybe that explains it, but this is one song that speaks to me. --------------------

I tear up if a song is intensely funky and powerful, no kidding...
