For me it would be the era between Dirty Mind and Controversy, 1981-1982, when Prince was in love with New Wave power pop music but he was still forging together his emerging Minnenapolis Sound.

10 songs I didn't know existed. Something that would surprise me.

86-87. No fucking doubt about it.

2015-16 to hear his last works too. Is that allowed?

.

This. 1982 has an even larger, and less researched trove of unreleased material than 1986.

.

1981 would be great too, and has a lot of mystery about it.

92-95. I'd be hoping it's full of his Tora Tora work & dance/house tracks.

The last 7 years. Montreux 2009 era through 2016. The man he had become is always what I'm most interested in.
However, I happen to think his best creativity, lyrics, dance, guitar playing and performing altogether were the mid-late 90s.

Can I just cheat and get one track from every 4 years of his career? Would be great to have that just to see his music evolving through the stages of his career.

The last year, to hear where he may have been heading with his music. 😔 While I love to explore all eras, I always cared most about what Prince was doing now and next.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. I was pretty interested in Madrid 2 Chicago and Breathe when they came out--more than I was in the One Nite Alone... tracks. So, yeah, that album might be a nice thing to hear.

I wonder if cover art was ever made for that one.
