Big Chick's WGPR "ghost" TV broadcasts story confirmed by another source A few years back, our beloved BigChick revealed that the Detroit club V6 footage came from an unanounced, late nite broadcast, thanks to a tape sent by P's camp to TV station WGPR in Detroit. Very interestingly and for the first time, another source confirms this (and no less than P-Funk alumni Mahalia Franklin's son): . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H8mihInLSo . According to Big Chick, at least 2 other shows were broadcast, also late at night and unanounced, on WGRP, one of the 2 Houston 1999 Tour shows (unfortunately we don't know which one), and later on an unedited version of the 86 Cobo Arena. Many other shows by other R&B acts were aired late at night in that semi-official way. . When BigChick visited the then defunct TV station's vault in the early 90's, most tapes had already been taken and there was no trace of the Prince footages. The V6 tape eventually leaked but one is left to wonder who has the other 2 shows' master tapes. . They're in the vault, though, so hopefully they'll surface in due time.

I never did, he's one of the most reliable people here, but I just find it cool that at long last another source came-up with the same info. It's always good to have more than one source for an info when you're researching stuff A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/ | |
