It will generate more interest in Prince's music which can also translate in sales of his music in physical or digital format. I, for one, have bought Prince albums I already own on CDs and vinyl in MP3 format because of the convenience of having them in the cloud. BTW, most Prince albums on iTunes are on sale for $6.99 each this week! I would like to buy some music starting today on one of these streaming services. Which service has the most of his songs? And which is cheaper? Can someone break this all down simply to assist others in making a good choice? Thank you. If you buy CDs from Amazon, you get the MP3 download PLUS the online stream. That only applies to CDs purchased directly from Amazon. Used CDs or from secondary sellers don't get that. I love streaming but our travels take us out of phone range. When you buy a physical copy it is always yours and you can move it to any device. I can plug my ipod into my car and control it from the steering wheel. Safety first LOL Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me. |

. It isn't free if you can't listen to an album without stupid commercials in between songs.

Gotta say... flippin' around inside the catalogue is actually quite fun... Plus - so nice to so many numbers checking out the various songs and then checking out The Time and Sheila...how much fun would it be for them to be able to check out The Family or Madhouse?
Right?
I sorta feel sorry that new fans won't ever feel the same excitement watching the P Associates as it all actually happened and rooting for our favs over the years...it was such a unique time.
But they can relive some of it by following the music.
We really had a unique experience. [Edited 2/19/17 16:36pm] |

Like when you bought a Sheila E record, you know you were basically getting a Prince and Sheila E record? |

No one seems to know for sure. |

I dunno if it was common knowledge outside of Pfans, but as a Pfan, I knew. I think we all knew on some level, rolled our eyes and pretended it was all them on their own.
It was really undeniable though cuz P's sound was so unique that I'd hear something on the radio, clock it as probably being from P's camp and nonfans would get really annoyed...but you knew it was from Minnieapolis and that meant it was probably something to do with P.
Sorta like I'd lie to nonfans, "Prince is 5'6" tall, dammit!"
It was fun!

It was clearly stated on them that those early records were produced by Prince (Jamie Starr). But as a teenager at the time, I didn't know that the credits were all fake and that Prince played most if not all the instruments too with only the lead vocals differentiating them from Prince's own records.

Today at work was my turn to pick the music that plays when our callers are in the waiting que. Needless to say, I picked one of my Prince streams. All day when the callers got through to a rep., they were upset. Not because they'd been waiting, (as they usually are) mind you. They were upset because they'd get a rep, right in the middle of a Prince tune they were jamming to and the reps interrupted.
We got so many comments and compliments about how cool it was to hear Prince while they were waiting, that my District Manager called me personally, to ask for a link to the stream. I thought I was in trouble but no, his wife is a big time Prince fan and he wanted it for her.
LOL! Love this story so much....I hope it is ok if I share your story with friends.
