Shameless Maya's video was fine. In fact I am grateful to her for giving us an honest, accurate picture of some of who Prince was, which is what she said she wanted to do by self-videoing, rather than have her words be edited inaccurately by the media. She obviously was very grateful to Prince and had the courage to speak about him as a real human being. |

After witnessing the evolution of her story, I'm taking Ms. Springs' multiple accounts with a grain of salt. At first, I was really liking her vibe. I even ordered her CD a few months ago. Now? Not so much. I mean, if you're claiming to be a friend to someone, certainly a global icon who welcomed you into his VERY tight circle, how can you now share such alleged details? What happened to decorum? I wonder if GQ paid her for her expanded story?
Apparently some people are just fine with women sharing intimate details. I think it's disrespectful and unclassy. They wouldn't be sharing these details if he was alive.
BTW, I was also surprised at some of the quotes attributed to Shameless Maya (Washington) in the GQ piece. I mean, he pulled her from relative obscurity and made her the art director and photographer for Art Official Age, arguably his last masterpiece. Thus, her photos of him have become iconic. He even allowed her to exclusively photograph his last Essence Fest performance, which all but guaranteed her a spread in Essence magazine. Moreover, shortly after his passing, she said that when he paid her for the first time, without her even invoicing him, she fell to her knees because she had never seen that kind of money.
And, after all that, she opted to go on record saying that he "might have been fishing" when he first contacted her about her photography. Even more shocking was this comment: "He has his routine with all these young girls who come in: movies, bike ride, possibly a jam session. That sounds about right." If she had to go there, and she didn't have to go there, why "young girls" instead of "young ladies"? What ever happened to discretion? Yes, you said this already on the previous page, Rogifan.
Maybe it is we who should ask ourselves if we are being respectful and classy to Prince's associates.
I think some are being just a bit to harsh with this young lady. [Edited 2/23/17 5:09am] |

Shameless Maya did a video about Pitch Perfect? I was talking about the video she put out right after Prince's passing. I can't find any such video. Would you provide a link, please?
Edit: I thought her quotes in GQ Magazine were a little off the top, but nothing awful. If they were true, and I believe she wouldn't lie for such an article, then she is simply one person who was willing to reveal a little bit more about the fact that Prince loved the ladies, and they him! Again, I was not referring to Shameless Maya's video in my initial comments. Rather, I was referencing her recent comments in this GQ Magazine article.
Lastly, I used "pitch perfect" as a descriptor, not as a reference to Andy Allo's upcoming movie. See below.

At the Oakland concert on March 4, 2016, when singing "Nothing Compares To You", Prince sings..."tell me Tam'ron where did Prince go wrong". Has anyone else heard this? I definitely think there was more to that relationship than we know.
I looked at this Oracle clip yesterday(a few times to be sure ) and I think I hear him say that too...! It kinda sounds like he's saying "Tay-mron", but yes, to me it sounds different to me than just singing "Tell me, where did Prince go wrong..." |

O.k. Here goes...I am wondering why people are upset with different women speaking out about their personal experience with prince, weather it was proffesional, friendly or more? Many many people have spoken of their relationship with him since his passing, which never seems to stir up the troops, unless it is a young women saying prince was interested in her. And I wonder why some of the same people trashing these ladies think it is fine for AA to post a picture shortly after his death, with what you have described as an engagement ring, probably hundreds of times. if prince wanted everyone to know he was engaged to AA he would have told us, so how come she is not in the same category as the others who have told secrets since his passing? isn't secretly being engaged a bigger secret to spill, than "he tried to hold my hand". And the same people that are not happy with these ladies giving details of their experience, have also posted many many times about wishing AA would let everyone know what was really going on with her and prince? Seems a little unfair. [Edited 2/23/17 6:25am]

THANK YOU. Exactly my thoughts. Which is worse? Being open and transparent, or letting rumors of being engaged to the person continue? I happen to not think they were engaged. I think that photo was an ultimately unused promo for the W2 Tour. |

In that case, if Prince wanted us to know that he was engaged to Sheila, he would have told us about that too. Moreover, she would have worn a ring. And I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just pointing out the differences in how Prince (and the two women) handled these two relationships.
Plus, the fact that Prince had his personal photographer, Justine Walpole, take the portrait in question--the one with AA wearing his diamond ring on her left ring finger--and that Andy Allo had the photo in her possession is an indication that he knew it existed...and that he would not mind it being released. Also, prior to his passing there were at least two photos of her wearing TWO different rings on her left finger during their time together. Not to mention, she wore them in the videos for "People Pleaser" and "Rocknroll Loveaffair." So, Prince didn't send out a press release about it, but he had Andy wearing his rings for the entire world to see. There's no denying that.
That said, I am not "trashing" anyone. In fact, I loved Maya's YouTube tribute to Prince. As I said earlier, I thought it was pitch-perfect. Her comments in GQ , however, are another story. Same thing with Kandace Springs. I thought her early reflections were cute, but as her story evolved, so did my reaction. Heck, I even started a thread about her a few months back. See for yourself.

Lastly, I have gone on record, on numerous occasions, saying that I think Andy should remain mum with regard to her relationship with Prince. As I said, I think it will come out, I just don't think it should be from her or her family, IMHO. After all, Prince put his relationship with Andy on front street, in some ways like he had never done before, so he was obviously proud of their association.
OAN, before y'all accuse me of "hijacking" this thread, I did not bring AA into this conversation; however, I think this comment demanded a response. That is all.

If you are going to try to step to me about something I supposedly said, then you need to get it right. That's a major problem in this world: Too many people don't listen. They just wanna be "right," when half the time, they don't even know what the other party is really saying.

Seems a little unfair. [Edited 2/23/17 6:25am]

After all, Prince put his relationship with Andy on front street, in some ways like he had never done before, so he was obviously proud of their association. rince OAN, before y'all accuse me of "hijacking" this thread, I did not bring AA into this conversation; however, I think this comment demanded a response. That is all.
Did Andy tell you the rings were from Prince ...or that they were his??????????

Did Andy tell you the rings were given to her by Prince ...or indeed if they were even his rings originally.... [Edited 2/23/17 9:02am] |

I don't know Andy, so, no, she told me no such thing. It was established on the "Were Prince and Andy Allo Betrothed?" thread that she was wearing his diamond pinky ring on her left hand. Also, if you look on the "Photographic Record" thread that is presently active, you will see Andy wearing it in the "People Pleaser" and "RNRLA" video screenshots/photo shoots. Prince is seen wearing the ring in the gorgeous photos of the two of them exiting the service entrance of Claridge's of London to avoid the paparazzi. BTW, there is at least one photo of Prince and Andy at the Dakota with her wearing a diamond solitaire. I won't post those photos here, lest I am further accused of "hijacking" this thread. |
