Aww Andy looked so happy in that performance. The way she was twirling around I'm glad this was made available.North Sea Jazz 2011 had some of my favorite Prince performances ever.

They are definitely fun to watch. Prince put on arguably the best show in the business.

I saw the NSJ awhile ago and enjoyed it. I even noticed the lil drawn on hearts and asked about it...someone answered that was something P did before they performed .
I dunno. I never paid this gal much attention except noting that she seemed tall to me and had a big 'fro. I mean, she's pretty I guess. I have no idea regarding if she's talented cuz I didn't pay much attention to her, she was simply background filler to me. After many gals showing up over the years, I usually just tune them out. Nothing personal, I'm just not checking for them. Lol
I didn't even know there was some sort of "following" for a supposed "relationship". I don't see it, but if it makes y'all happy...go'on wit it.

The "Sharpie hearts" were very cute. Thanks for that reminder, LBrent. I've also been marveling at how tall Andy seems. As Prince sang in "2Y.2D,": She’s got knee-high boots & e-o-lectric hair...Her legs so long she never climbs stairs." Yet, even in those 5-inch stilettos and with her huge afro, she didn't seem to tower over P.

That 2nd of the 3 shows was fantastic. Some amazing guitar work and guitar heavy songs throughout the show. The solo on The Love We Make is one of my favorites. Girl and Let's Get it On with AA were cute, fine. But she still felt like a 3rd wheel when on stage with NPG. Like when the band is doing a cover of I Want You Back and AA is just kind of standing there with a guitar strapped around her awkwardly dancing. Not her fault as she was on stage because Prince wanted her there but a bit awkward nonetheless. Paisley Park is in your heart

It wasn't like Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, but the Boss wanted her there.

i often wonder what the rest of the band thought when prince would bring his "protégés" on stage that did seem somewhat out of place musically, and clearly not on the same talent level musically as everyone else?

Prince's band members seemed to love Andy and most still show support for her and her career.Dr Funk said Ida attended one of Andy's recent shows.

Good question. If I had to guess, I'd say that they were probably thinking that they were onstage with the great Prince Rogers Nelson, at whose pleasure (and whims) they served. And they just went with the flow.

That was not the question, the question was I wonder what they thought, I am sure fly you will tell us what they were thinking. Not about Andy as a person, or a solo artist, but about young women coming on stage with them at princes desire, and how they fit in musically, and in this case specifically Andy.

Seems to me many of his band members (and others he worked with) developed long lasting friendships. You've got The Revolution and original NPG doing tours' Shelby J., Liv Warfield and Judith Hill doing gigs together. And they always seem to be promoting each other on social media. I think that's so cool. Paisley Park is in your heart

I agree. Just recently, during Andy's StageIt concert, Shelby was online interacting with the other commenters. The last thing Andy did before the hard break that ended the show was to shout out Shelby. It was very cool. I recently learned that she, Liv, and Judith even postponed their re-scheduled StageIt show so as not to conflict with Andy's already scheduled show.

Of course, I can't tell you what they were all thinking individually. Relative to Andy, though, I think they must have sensed that something was different. I could be wrong, but that's the vibe I get. One thing's for sure, Prince probably could not have cared less what they thought. He seemed to be having the time of his life. Indeed, he seemed to take immense pleasure from her presence and he barely let her out of his sight. Below, I'll post a cool photo of him watching her get set up at her easel.

I think this is something that really gets underreported when discussing Prince's career. He brought a lot of really great musicians/artists together. And they have lasting friendships mainly because of him. I didn't even mention all the NPG horn players. They're keeping Prince's memory alive and they don't even have to perform his music to do it. I love it. Paisley Park is in your heart

I don't understand Purple Yoda, Mr Goodnight (I remember Mr Goodbar) and Penguin. I know the old "nickname" Skippy - which he hated, but with which some still refer to him.
Que pasa? Need me some fuzzy love....and yes, I wear clear heels

Que pasa? "Purple Yoda" is what he referred to himself as in the song "Laydown" from 20Ten, and "Mr. Goodnight" is a song from Planet Earth. Penguin is a name that the lunatic Jeannette girl gave him. Lol. Hope this configures your wonders

I don't think anyone else can pull another person "out of the abyss." We are all the masters of our own fate. I think Andy's lyrics tell the story of why she and Prince ended up apart. Perhaps, with time, they would have found their way back to each other, which I think they both, ultimately, wanted. Here are the words to two of her beautiful ballads, "Lone Gone," and "The Calm."

The human touch can do wonders to rehabilitate, if not 'rescue' someone. The TRUTH is that she was not there. She absconded some three years before and made a new album and post-NPG life. There is no proof, or at least none has been presented to show that "they would have found their way back to each other." These two songs that are presented to reference their relationship breakup are on the SC record. How can she write and sing about their breakup on a record they supposedly lovingly worked and especially during the height of their torrid romance? I do not know. Regarding the NS performance, they were working the Betty Davis (nee Mabry) angle before he consciously stated it in a Chicago Tribune interview in 2012. In general, Mr/Dr PRN's performances were always affectatious and effective which his fans loved.

If the lyrics to the two songs posted above were about Prince, it makes me feel bad that he was caught up in an obsession with someone so young, and that there was all this fighting and "storminess". It doesn't seem like the Prince I have come to understand; the Prince of peace and positivity; the Prince whose heart wanted so badly to be calm. I believe that if he had had a spiritually matured partner, someone who could've "pulled him in"; the "right person" as he stated several years earlier it "would have to be", he would've experienced something he never had. He deserved that. We all do. In a truly matured relationship, both parties are only thinking about giving - and how to make the other person happy. There's no drama, ego pain, etc. I would have loved to have seen him have that.

I wish he would have done a George Clooney, find some amazing beautiful accomplished women, 40ish or so, a doctor would have been awesome. But it seems he dated 25 year olds in his 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. You know 18 and older I want to bone her...
