Best live version of Do Me Baby...?

I'm currently digging the 1991 live version with the guitar intro ... but its way too short. Feels like it should get the full ten minute treatment but in the version I have Prince cuts it short after one verse and chorus.

What do you think is the ultimate version of Prince's best slow groove?

1999 tour 100%, what was done on this tour was duplicated on the PR tour but a little shorter

Is that the ten minute version? Like that one to, very close to the album cut and a nice long version. Its one of those tracks that could go on for double that and you'd still want more! biggrin

1990 Nude Tour. Miko playing guitar on the intro is excellent.

I was just going to post this tour, but you beat me to the punch. This is by far the most sensuous rendition of "Do Me Baby" that I've ever seen. Prince was in rare form. And, that's saying a lot. My only complaint is that the actual Prince's singing portion was much too short. Miko's solo, however, was nice and long. Between the two of them, it is totally swoon-worthy. heart whew faint

When I think of a "best version" live, I usally tend to think it was from the tour when the song came out. Do Me Baby is one of those exceptions. When Doves Cry sounded excellent on the Nude Tour too. Michael B's drumming probably has a lot to do with that.

In particular, I'm thinking about the show at the Tokyo Dome. When I saw that footage, I almost passed out.

- One of my fave P concerts ever and the best version of When Doves Cry IMO (with that bass and Prince piano solo). He was great there, as a showman and musician. My fave version of Do me, baby also.

For me, I think that live version of Do Me Baby from 1999 Tour in March of 1983 (the bootleg known as "the homecoming") was amazing. The performance wasn't too short or long, just on point. That entire show was great. Vanity 6, The Time, and Prince was great.

Live At Saenger Theatre. New Orleans, Louisiana. February 28th, 1982.

I have this old bootleg that is a compilation of live "love songs":

https://www.discogs.com/P...se/1357892

For an unnecessary compilation bootleg, it was still rather a rather enjoyable collection and for some reason this version of Do Me Baby always stood out to me more when listening to this boot than when listening to the entire show from 1982.

Thanks for this! I don't think I could ever hear this song too many times or in too many versions. I love your EnglishGent quote, too.
