could we all know a thief? Because in music there are common musical phrases, and variations of those phrases. What you happen to be listening to is a traditional jazz bassline in each song - but the bassline is not a note for note copy of "Green Onions," it's a variation. If you listen to enough jazz in general you'll never be at a loss to find a walking bassline used for decades on end by different recording artists. This post not for the wimp contingent.
