Complete list of songs performed live from 96-16 albums

One of the most disappointing things about Prince's career in the last twenty years, was the lack of new material he played in his live shows. I always feel the only way for a veteran artist to remain relevant, on an artistic and creative level, is to show that they're invested in their newer work by playing it live, in the same way they invested in their early music. I always felt, One Nite Alone tour aside, Prince never gave his 96-16 output much of a chance in a live setting, and this always disappointed me.

Anyway, I've tried to make a complete list of the songs Prince performed live from Emancipation through to HitNRun phase 2.

I want to clarify, I'm only including songs that were performed live during concerts, so TV appearances (like his perfomance of Somebody's Somebody on the Rosie O Donnell show or Fury on SNL etc) do not count.

This is by no means a comprehensive list, so please feel free to fill in the blanks. A few things I was unsure of:

1. Did he ever perform any songs from HitNRun Phase 1 live? And anything from AOA apart from Breakdown and FunkNRoll?

2. What songs (if any) were performed live from MPLSound and LotusFlow3r?

3. I would also like to know if he performed more songs from 20Ten and One Nite Alone albums?

This is the list so far:

Jam O The Year

Get Yo Groove On

Face Down

Mr Happy (at an aftershow I believe?)

Sleep Around

La La Means Eye Love U

One Of Us

The Love We Make

Don't Play Me

The Other Side Of The Pillow

Mad Sex (one time iirc)

Come On

Push It Up

The One

The Greatest Romance Ever Sold

Baby Knows

I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore

Prettyman

So Far So Pleased (only once I think during the Welcome 2 Canada shows)

Wherever U Go Whatever U Do (wasn't this performed once during the Celebration events?)

Most of The Rainbow Children... (but was The Last December ever performed outside of a soundcheck? And how about She Loves Me 4 Me and The Sensual Everafter?)

One Nite Alone

Avalanche

Musicology

Dear Mr Man

Life O The Party

On The Couch

3121

Lolita

Black Sweat

Te Amo Corazon

Satisfied

Get On The Boat

Planet Earth

The One U Wanna C

Guitar

Somewhere Here On Earth

Screwdriver

Baltimore

Did he ever do Compassion, Dance 4 Me, Ol Skool Company or No More Candy at a live show? How about Crimson & Clover and Colonized Mind? I know he did some of these songs on TV appearances, but did he perform any in concert?

If Prince says, "I wrote this song... thinking about you... about people feeling good about music... about one another..." then yes, it was alright! It was actually the first time I ever heard that song. I only got the album a few years later. Yeah, this concert is worth tracking down" biggrin

Was Courtin Time ever performed in full or was it just the horn interlude with the band?

Would love to hear Mad Sex live, I bet that was off the hook! Are there any decent boots of it floating around?

Also, what tour did he perform The Holy River? I've seen loads of Jam Of The Year setlists, and I don't recall him performing it on that tour.

Courtin' Time was played in Utrecht in december 1998, where it segued into Teddy Bear by Elvis Presly. So not the entire song, but at least the first part.

He opened with Laydown and also played When I Lay My Hands on U, so there was plenty of new stuff that night. Wow, that was a great concert...

Full on the december 1998 leg of thed JOTY tour, was great. Candy was guesting on that tour, was a really fun track live, Prince performed it real tongue in cheek which always gives his more humorous songs a bit clarity when you see them live and he's laughing and joking.

Mad Sex was insane, like 15 minute versions over Kirk playing the loop. All members usually got a solo in. A few boots are knocking around that include Mad Sex, he did it at a main show in early 98 too, a show in Jan 98.

Holy River was played at a few shows in April 97 if i remember correctly, was deffinately played at a handful of the L4OA shows.

Do you know of any specific good quality soundboard recordings of Mad Sex from back then? Not soliciting, just asking if such a thing exists.
