Evarage fan??? I have been a fan more or less for the last 30 years..it started with a crush, turned into obsession, going on and off. All my life has been somehow connected to his music, my love lifes, my persona, even the names of my pets. After he died i felt crushed, but i know i will allways have his music. Now his music is the only music i listen too. But i can only listen when im alone, his music is only for me, i dont want to spoil the experiance even with the people im closest. I feel they would not understand and feel what i feel. Its beyond only music, its HIM, its everything about him. How do you feel listening to his music? Do you sometimes feel like someone would put a lifetime course on you? Em i the evarage Prince fan??

That doesn't sound like the average fan to me. Sounds more like obsession. I mean, you say yourself that it's an obsession.

Therefore the average fan is obsessed - The problem is when you're obsessed with more people, just like I do full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

Ok i will give you the credit. Lets say we are a bit FANatic but do you think this happens only with P or is it allways like that? I never had that conection with anything else (music, things...) in my life, so I really wonder. Is it me or is it him??

Other celebs have fanaticians as well. Where do you think the word beatlemania comes from? full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

Actually i have been reading some other forums, there has been some fuck up stuff... im think im pretty normal now just have not been in forums for ahwhile. i love P and his music, simple as that. sometimes i get carried away, but i think we all do in some way. mine is music and happens to be his music. but love to read what other people think and say. you feel that you are not the only one and what is more important, i can express without beeing over judged.

Everyone obsesses over something. It could be a movie, a singer, a breakfast cereal. It could be anything. So, whereas I wouldn't necessarily consider the average Prince fan to be obsessed, at the same time, I don't see anything wrong with a little obsession. As long as it doesn't go TOO far. Robert de Niro took his obsession a little too far in The King of Comedy so if you could keep it below that level of obsession, then you're OK in my book.

The irony is that Rupert Pupkin wanted to become like the object of his obsession...which is what he did in the end. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

If you are truly trying to assess if it is a problem, then ask yourself is it negatively impacting your functioning in any important area of your life. For example, if you AVOID socializing so you can listen to Prince all the time,

Yes, but when you have so many grammar and spelling errors, it makes you look ignornat and comes across poorly. Unless of course English is not your first language. . I make heaps of typos and grammar errors, but I at least try to get it right when I have to. You need to start each sentence with a capital (I not i) and try and not to use text spelling. The spell checker here is not very good. Especially as I live in New Zealand and we spell English words slightly differently in the British part of the world. . Some of us here, like myself are from VERY educated backgrounds (Masters Degree and 3 other degrees) and generally are not fans of elementary school language. I also assume that many other orgers are similarily educated and find uneducated English hard to read. Willing to lay money on the table, we have several members with doctorates, and yet also several members who dropped out of high school and are barely literate. But with a complex artist like Prince, these people MUST be in the minority of orgers. [Edited 1/23/17 14:31pm] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Erm, not necessarily. Firstly, there are young orgers who haven't finished elementary or high school yet. Secondly, not sure about the org, but there are definitely adults without degrees that love Prince. I have seen such fans online, mostly African Americans (that is not to say that African Americans are less educated, just that Prince is embraced by many of them, whereas people of other ethnicities might prefer their own kinds). - People sometimes don't capitalise letters at the beginnings of sentences because they are lazy to press Shift or whatever full lips, freckles, and upturned nose
