Hey there Purple Peeps. We could really use your help in voting Prince as the #1 Pop Icon of the 80's. The voting is between P and Michael Jackson. I know some of you are torn, but let's face it. Prince had it over Michael by miles.

After all, Michael didn't:

• Play every instrument on his albums
• Proficient on at least 27 different instruments
• Have a dedicated color
• Create his own symbol
• Create his own SOUND (The Minneapolis Sound)
• Receive an Acadamy Award AND a Grammy Award for the same movie (and a Golden Rasberry Award for worse Actor/Director) LOL!
• Mentored, created, wrote songs for and featured over 75 new artists, bands, and musicians. Many of which were featured on his own albums.
• Have a vault filled with possibly thousands of unreleased songs and music.
• Stay loyal to his hometown
• Date many, many top notch beautiful women
• Was the FINEST man on planet earth (Okay, that one is just MHO, but still...)

Ha, I had a rivalry in the 80's with my sister the whole MJ vs. Prince thing.

She was and still is into MJ and I was and still am into Prince. I got her to love PR, ATWIAD, Parade and UTCM movie though. She still loves that time in Prince history. Who could resist Prince, really?!?

Pop star? It's almost an insult to call Prince pop.

I think it's got to be Madonna, she was the best pop star, throw away tunes, magazines, movies, media hype, kids wanting to be her...

she pisses it.

Prince was the musical genius of the decade, MAdonna was the pop star.

I've found a way to vote at least 3 times...since last night it went up from 50% micheal/49.7% Prince...to now it's 50/50....come on ya'll....VOTE!!!!!!!

We're trying to win as many awards for Prince as we can possibly get. All of us HERE know he was so much more than just a "Pop Star". (Genius? YES, agreed) But the way to keep Prince's memory alive is to keep his name & face in front of as many people as possible.

I get the feeling that if he were here, he wouldn't mind being crowned the Best Pop Star of a Decade. Ever!

I agree i was going to put 80's 90's 00's and 10's too. But seeing that the vote is just for his 80's output. I think every Prince fan already knows his 1978-2016 Musical journey. But like Diamondstarr and precioux said this is to keep his name out there for the casuals and hopefully new fans in future genarations.

I just find things like this so pointless, stupid and childish. No doubt someone benefits from a site visit and that click, but it isn't P or MJ. Fuck it, they never get my business.
