My parents tried everything and every avenue to help him, they went to the top of the line speech therapists, they sent him to speech therapy schools on the weekends. Of course nothing helped. They were just trying to grab at tree branches. There is something now I think they can implant a device behind the ear or something that is supposed to help. He thought about doing that when he was in his 20's but never did.

I don't think anyone truly stutters when they sing. I stutter from time to time (thankfully, it's not bad), so in my research on how to, well, NOT stutter, I read that it's not possible to stutter when you're singing or swearing (might explain why your brother doesn't stutter when he's angry). My brother doesn't stutter when he sings. I don't know about the swearing part.

In my opinion, he was not a true stutter'er. When people are true stutter'ers they can't just turn it off. Believe me, as much as they want to turn it off, they can not.

I agree with Ladygirl99, as both anxiety and depression are associated closely to each other and I also agree with PennyPurple as stuttering is also associated with facial tics, which I have noticed in various Prince interviews...chronic facial tic. Have you ever wondered how he sometimes looks down and his eyes double blink or his left eye fluters and his lip/cheek also contracts when he is not looking directly at anybody speaking? All of this is also related to seizure disorder which according to his angel story was lifted from him during childhood. Xanax is an older drug and that is what the ME found in the tox screen. I would like to mention that every single one of us relates to him in our own special way. Either the music directly, the composition, the story of his life, the story of the songs, etc..the evolution of the man is what we all relate to in one way or another. Need me some fuzzy love....and yes, I wear clear heels

On the benzos... I've been on meds for years now (took Klonopin) on Ativan. Never took Xanax, though. I've suffered from Social anxiety that always lead to deep bouts of depression pretty much all my life and would get something that might be similar to "facial tics", but it isn't just my face, and I think for me it's more like very light, but uncontrollable trembling not facial tics. But it's hardly noticeable by others. I even sometimes get the stomach pains that Prince said he would get during his depression. But I don't stutter. I think maybe he was trying to guard his words, or was being cautious not to give away something he wasn't trying to give away, or maybe didn't want people to have the wrong idea about him, or possibly just related to the epilepsy? But there are some small habits I've noticed in him while watching his videos, interviews, etc that I think might be related to his anxiety. I haven't noticed one eye flutter in any of his vids, though. One thing that I've always been curious about is at times he would be talking and it would look like he's talking to someone that's not there.

My stepfather was a stutterer so I have seen how it is too. But Prince a stutter? I say NO. I also think he would have mentioned it at some time if he had of been just like he has discussed the other child hood things - and his friends would have mentioned it too by now.
Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

FYI: Stuttering is a communication disorder in which the flow of speech is broken by repetitions (li-li-like this), prolongations (lllllike this), or abnormal stoppages (no sound) of sounds and syllables. There may also be unusual facial and body movements associated with the effort to speak. Stuttering is also referred to as stammering
You would be surprised at the list of WELL KNOWN FOLKS who stutter. I have had the same problem since I could talk. Folks like James Earl Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, and others are listed here as listed by the "Stuttering Foundation" James Earl Jones has been pretty much an ambassador for this organization for many years now. He once said in a speech he gave at one of their meetings that acting was one of the many times he did not stutter because he rehearsed his lines so much that he could quote them without stuttering but when it came to accepting an award or normal everyday talking he struggled.
I encourage you to educate yourself on this very real disorder...I am not saying Prince was one that did but it would not shock me especially when you see the list of those who were/are that are well known...
