Recently famous Dutch TV director Egbert Van Hees has died. He was involved in numerous Dutch TV shows, but gained worldwide fame due to his excellent captures of live pop shows. The start of that career was when he directed the taping of Lionel Richie's second concert in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) in 1987; he gained worldwide recognition for his capture of Madonna's 1987 concert in Turin, Italy.

In 1988 he directed the broadcast of Prince's final European concert of the Lovesexy Tour, something Van Hees regarded as his masterpiece, not in the least due to the tremendous technical demands. (He also won the International Monitor Award for it.)

Van Hees was also the director for Dutch talk show "De TV Show" which he helped start together with its host Ivo Niehe. In the 15 January 2017 edition of the show, Ivo Niehe included a segment honoring Van Hees' work. This included some behind the scenes footage of several of those shows, including a snippet of Prince and band rehearsing while Van Hees was doing a trial run.

Let's hope this footage will find its way to a "deluxe" release of that show, as well as other items. Van Hees was also a guest in Dutch talk show Pauw shortly after Prince's death and talked about his work with Prince:

Please point me to the part of the Dortmund gig where you can view the footage shown at 15:25. Also note that you can view multiple camera feeds at the same time in that clip.

I am hoping for that as well. I've been going to the concert showings at Paisley Park and the O2 and W2 Australia shows were really good quality. The Jam of the Year tour they just showed was good, but not excellent quality.

Thank you for posting, this never before seen footage. If they filmed the entire rehearsal, I'd love to see the guitar solo from Anna Steisa. Dortmund would be a masterpiece, if his guitar worked properly during the most important part of the show.

Short but cool.

Let's hope that show one day sees a rerelease and that it includes the original, 2 parts VHS release that hasn't ever been ripped to digital and is lost to anyone who doesn't have a VCR and the original cassette.

The sound also badly needs to be remastered, I have HD rips of every other version of the show (TV and LD) and the sound is terrible.
