Every Prince CD has a unique sound/ vibe. It was more distinct at the beginning of his career with his 1st 10 albums. All sonically different and challenging. 1999, Purple Rain, ATWIAD, and Parade were nothing like each other. It was a wild ride. [Edited 1/28/17 20:40pm]

The evolution of Prince's music cost him fans & sales. People couldn't keep up. Prince lost black fans releasing Purple Rain. He lost others releasing ATWIAD after PR. Artistically, I got used to it. Some people didn't. Had Prince continued to release albums similiar to 1999 and PR who knows how big he would have been. Just saying...

Thankfully he didn't. He would ahve lost this fan if he did.

Really Madcat? This one you find the most challenging ? Ha..Viva La Differace....If I have to pick only ONE Album to listen to for the rest of my Life it would be Parade.
I was 21 years old and had absolutley no trouble getting right into it
Its like nothing else, by no one else ever and till this day remains ever fresh...
WHat is challenging about it for You may I ask?

I said Parade because its totally weird and quirky - YET it has the (1) Prince song that pretty much every NON Fan knows and loves.. Kiss.
