Maybe the bands frontman isn't as inspiring anymore, and it rubs off on the players.Imagine the Revolution in 84/85, they were playing with the #1 artist in the world! also the SOTT/Lovesexy band were playing with Prince at his peak (performing-wise)

Prince was still hungry then, he isn't so much now.

I disagree with the statement about personalities being needed for fans to feel connected to a band or whatever. Look at the SOTT/Lovesexy band, widely regarded as his best. We dig them because of their tight musicianship (even Prince admits that that band's level is what he wants the others to get to) AND showmanship. There weren't really any videos or whatever to showcase their personalities or anything. We mainly knew Sheila and Fink from the Revolution. Everyone else was pretty much new, and it was the music, playing, and on stage antics that won most of the fans over. Maybe it'll just have to take stronger original music to win us over on the current band. They're certainly talented cats, and I do definitely dig them, but I even dig them more when Eric and Sheila are in the lineup!!
