I agree.I really don't care about any of these tributes.

They would look foolish to not tribute Prince. Prince is one of the legendary pioneers of music. Whether kids knows about Prince or not, he deserves to be honored for his musical contribution, impact, influence and legendary legacy. We lost so many icons and legends last year and I hope the Grammys acknowledges all of them respectfully.

Prince was music. He needs to be honored at every opportunity...

I agree with you.
After the well done BET tribute I gave up on ever seeing P honoured in a fitting manner that'll satisfy me...The fact of the matter is that no matter how well thought out or well intentioned or respectful, for me, any tribute will always seem incomplete because...4/21/16.
Every tribute feels like a bandage being ripped from the wound that's trying to heal.
I hope the Grammys and whomever else tries to honour P does well, but I can't feel any sadder if they don't.

I just hope whatever it is, if it's one person or several, it's done from the heart and some thought was actually put into it. And no Purple Rain please. It's obvious the Billboard tribute was pulled together at the last minute. And why they added Stevie Wonder made no sense considering the audience there is much younger. A lot of the teenyboppers there were probably saying Stevie who? Just dumb. Paisley Park is in your heart

This, but I'd like to see him there doing something Prince. Was he ever involved in any of the musical tributes? I can not remember seeing anything he performed at. In all fairness and sincerities, he loved jazz music.๐น๐ท๐ถ So I would go from there. I would love to see a jazz version tribute of one of his songs. Since it is, "The Grammys", it should be a platform for them to honor music of all types.๐ผ In all fairness of him being a real rocker,๐ธyou might also look into tributing the song he has done with Sheryl Crow? Remember that song? I'm sure you all did since you all claim to be incredibly knowledgeable of every song he has ever produced! ๐ There are tons of songs (other than Purple Rain and the known romantic songs he has performed no one knows he has written) that I would love hearing them perform. Let's make sure when something gets done, it is at least done in a fair manner! โบ None of the songs from the "Crystal Ball" album has ever been performed in a tribute. It is like all they tribute are the songs THEY remember. No matter what age group you are in, everyone should be aware that Prince was a heavily remarkable force as a musician in the industry who molded, shaped and influenced tons of incredible talent we currently see! This is why it is essential to tribute songs hardly anyone has heard. If you really intend to reach an audience and capture their attention on a musician who was a huge inspiration to others in the industry, I would start by tributing a few songs from every album no one has been exposed to. Then, as a musician, I would put my own spin on the original song and use my own style to perform it. This is how songs that was only exposed to solid fans have gotten popular among people who have never been exposed to this artist's albums. Start with a brief commentary of working with Prince and a brief description of his career and charity work as well. Let us know what he has done to influence YOU! Also, I would love to extend my congratulations to all the nominees and artists who will perform as they all worked incredibly hard to create wonderful songs on their albums. Prince was very much a Stevie Wonder fan and they were friends. That's why Stevie was in that tribute. Thinking about it now- Stevie Wonder is another musician who can play all the instruments on his albums, too, just like Prince did.

Seems to me though Stevie would have been a better fit for the Grammys. And who knows maybe he will do a performance there. Paisley Park is in your heart

I just hope that they don't do a 'Las Vegas-style' quick musical greatest hits medley. Wouldn't it be beautiful if they got a full orchestra and choir to sing Still Would Stand All Time? Oh, the magic!!!

Every tribute feels like a bandage being ripped from the wound that's trying to heal. I feel the same way.Plus,I just don't get excited at the thought of other people singing Prince's songs.Their intentions are good, but no thanks

Or at something of that sort. There are some teenagers who still know about Steve Wonder. Take me as an example. Not really a teenager but know at least one of his songs. [Edited 1/24/17 6:24am]

Recording Academy just announced that Bruno Mars will perform a new song from his new album.
And guys seriously Bruno is the most professional performer in the industry right now and NO ONE comes close. I don't care if he's not on Prince or MJ's level... but the guy tears down the roof everytime he's on stage. America knows it, the industry knows it. He's the shit.
I'm sure the Grammy producers have asked him to curate the tribute just like NFL did with Coldplay (and they eventually had to ask him to even perform).

Really really new to this. Apologize in advance. And computer challenged on top of that. But I think the best tribute would be various video clips of his performances. Nobody can do it like Prince. So magical. So missed right now. Peace love prince.

One thing none of these tributes have been able to do is showcase what a phenomenal musician Prince was. I've been listening to more and more live stuff I can get my hands on since his passing and there weren't many better when it came to live performances. Heck even Elton John said Prince was the greatest live performer he'd ever seen. My fear is this tribute will be 5 minutes of Bruno Mars doing a funk number with Morris Day and some horns and that's it. That would be depressing. I want some motherf'er on stage belting out Dreamer and giving us a blistering guitar solo. Where's that tribute? Paisley Park is in your heart

oooo that would be EPIC! Jesse is one of very few guitarist that I think could nail a Prince guitar solo with little effort! The man is a beast on the guitar! hmmm maybe since Morris and the guys didn't see fit to include Jesse with their collabing with Bruno, then the Grammy's could of just offered Jesse his own spot!..

Agree. But sadly, Prince is not available and there is no replacement. Stevie Wonder is Godhead. Teenyboppers need to find out if they don't know. When we were kids we worshipped Ray Charles for the same reason. Every performance is a gift. Brand new boogie without the hero.

Where the heck is Lenny Kravitz???? The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

They will probably both do part of a time song together and perhaps parts of 2 other Prince songs. The Time know how to play Prince music the right way, thus the perfect backup band for Bruno. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
