I wonder if Rihanna will do Controversy. "People call me rude..." could segue right into her song Rude Boy. She could dedicate the song to the original Rude Boy. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

While I think every awards show should have a Prince tribute it will be hard to top BET. I would like to see one of his videos played all the way through. How bout Get Off? lol

Thank you. I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

Rihanna has about as much in common with Prince as I have in common with Vladimir Putin.

I used to be under the spell to watch through these award shows, just to see if he will make an appearance or perform. Now it's bittersweet to know that spell has been broken and no longer care for grammys and others. Same goes for these tributes, unfortunately I don't give a hoot who performs and how great they do it. "Can't nobody do it like Prince do"

Bruno is the only current mainstream artist they should use since he resembles Prince more than anybody else and just for the simple fact that he's a great live performer. Everybody else should be a veteran act who was connected to Prince in some way (i.e. they were influenced by him, covered one of his songs, had a song written for them by him or performed with him, etc.). Since this is the Grammys, they'll probably stray along this route which is good enough.

Rihanna will do Prince justice. She's got respect for him and "Kiss It Better" is a clear homage to his work.
Aside from Rih, Bruno, and The Weeknd, I'd REALLY like to see Miguel and Lenny Kravitz do something too. Bring some of the Paisley Park legends like Sheila, Sheena, or Jill along too.

Bruno Mars is great. Prince wrote him a note telling him basically that he only answers to himself and God. Bruno is a great entertainer. The Grammys had to do a tribute to Prince. They never would have heard the end of it. Prince deserves every honor bestowed upon him. fan for life

Anything's got to be better than the Madonna 'tribute'. Sure, it brought tears to my eyes, but it just wasn't enough. Prince deserved more. I will definately be watching the Grammy's. I hope that some of the winners dedicate their win to our Prince!

So many legends passed this last year. It would be a little melancholy, but I hope they stop and give each their own tribute specific to each. And not just a pat all encompassing melody number for them all. [Edited 1/12/17 18:30pm]

Sheila E, D'Angelo, & Bilal gave excellent tributes as well as everyone at the last years BET awards. I'm NOT tired of the tributes. There hasn't been enough and I'm still pissed that the VMAS didn't acknowledge Prince and David Bowie. I don't care if you think VMA'S are relevant or not. They SHOULD'VE honored the artists that were pillars to their success back in the day.

It's not really about they measure up to Prince or if they are worthy of performing his music. It's about other artists showing their respect and gratitude to Prince's music by honoring him. I got two sides... and they're both friends.

Taking the Stage - Celebrating the opening of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History & Culture is on TV right now. Prince would have been on that gig no doubt. Brand new boogie without the hero.

Why do they even have VMA awards anymore? Paisley Park is in your heart

The only tribute that I've enjoyed was the one Sheila put together. Not none of the others came close and I still haven't seen a decent tribute to Bowie. Change it one more time..

And when some of the hottest artists today pay tribute to Prince, I hope that it will inspire some younger fans to become more interested in Prince's music. Artists like Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Bruno Mars know that they are sitting on the shoulders of giants like Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, etc. It's good to see them pay tribute to the giants, in this case Prince. And fortunately, Prince received plenty of tributes while he was alive. He was a giant in the music industry and he knew it. Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above

Bruno aint shit, why's everyone shining his arse? Or am I the only person who dislikes his unoriginal 'copy cat' music. Who is it this week? He's been MJ, the Time, Sugerhill Gang, fuck knows who else

I like him cuz he's a brilliant performer and he performs LIVE. Unlike a certain diva that's been around for almost 27 years and just because her voice is gone she thinks she doesn't have to do anything but look like a damn fool on stage. Oh yeah, that's right it was the shows fault, not hers!

Let's face it. Prince was far too multi-demensional for the general public to understand much less appreciate! Perhaps the Grammys should take another approach. They would have to package something for public consumption , therefore why not honor ONE demension of the artist? I agree with Prince the rocker. Whoever they get to respresent (and they better be damed good!) would play some of his hard rock goodies. He SHOULD be represented in the same realm as Hendrix as far as guitar goes and the Grammys would be a great platform for that.
And while I'm ranting, can the media stop calling him a pop artist????? It is dismissive of his genius and talent. Rant over!! Style is the second cousin to class

These tributes are irrelevant. They've become formalities at this point. The youth centered pop oriented audience knows diddley squat about Prince. And that's fine.
