Prince's stuntman in Purple Rain - funny.

Watched my dvd of the PR movie last night after a long time. I've watched this movie maybe 40 times over the years and last night I noticed for the first time that Prince had a stuntman in the scene where he and Appolonia are at Lake Minnetonka (which isn't Lake Minnetonka of course wink ).

After Appolonia takes a dip in the lake, Prince gets on his motorcycle and drives away with high speed. In the scene where he's spinning with his bike I noticed that it isn't Prince but a stuntman wearing a wig to look like him. This was actually very funny to see.

Did anyone notice this as well? batting eyes

Couldn't be any funnier than the stunt man in Graffiti Bridge during the Thieves in the Temple part where 'Kid' is on his bike chasing after Morris, Jerome and Aura. lol

.

Not according to Susan Rogers, who was standing behind a wall when that scene was filmed. She said as soon as he finished, and it had to be in one take, that she'd never seem him look so vulnerable.

We are in our winter home and I don't have the book in front of me, but I'm certain this is from Alan Light's "Let's Go Crazy" about the filming of Purple Rain.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

On the commentary track on the 20th anniversary DVD, I believe it is Albert Magnoli or Robert Cavallo who indicates that Prince did all his own riding - including the part where he comes up the hill and the bike leaves the ground. They said he actually hit a mark that time. They could be lying, but I doubt it.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I noticed it was a stuntman from the first time I saw the movie. It looked pretty fake.

You know, that scene always got to me, knowing his history. With the first swing of that bat, I felt he was letting out some of the pain and rage he felt from being abandoned in real life, and it showed on his face. That sweet, tear-stained face. cry

That's surprising because I watched PR with the commentary and they said they did that scene in the basement in one take with two cameras -mentioning some other tidbits about it but... I don't think it was stunt double...

That's surprising if that is remotely true because I watched PR with the commentary and they said they did that scene in the basement in one take with two cameras - mentioning some other tidbits about him in that scene ... I truly don't think it was stunt double...

I say they're talking bs. Same as all the actors who stated doing their own stunts. 99% is bs. No insurance company will ever take such a risk.

Insurance company? You do realize that "Purple Rain" was destined to be a Razzie, and that it was nowhere on WB's blockbusters radar?

It was just a small crew freezing their asses off on a low-budget set, trying to make musicians act.
Come on.

Plus, it's crystal clear that it's Prince riding his Honda in the When Doves Cry sequence/music video.
