I'm going to tonight's book launch. Any must ask questions? Did you go ? Did you ask him about the one line bookwoman told us about? I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

Yes, I went. He actually brought it up himself. I don't mind saying what it is since I've seen it posted before on another thread. Before Prince set out on the Emancipation tour he told Walsh that if anything happens to him to let people know that it wasn't an accident. He basically thought the industry was out to get him. Walsh brought it up because after P died he was reminded of it when some cat (I forgot his name) went on TV claiming that Prince was killed by the industry. Walsh didn't necessarily think Ps statement in 97 was applicapble to his death 20 years later but he did seem compelled to share it. But I can't think of any industry conflicts P was having around the time of his death to cause speculation. Was there?
Anyway, it was a fun event - basically a storytelling hour or so.

I haven't read the book yet so I'm not sure. But he did a lot of direct readings from the book itself so I doubt it.

Thank you for your review--- appreciated-- FYI, for the low Kindle price of $3.99 and I think that goes to charity to boot, I liked PRINCE A LIFE IN MUSIC Matt Carcieri because, for me, it mapped out Prince's career timeline and music output in a way I was able to digest/ learn.

My question is: is this book only a collection of 90's reviews and article or is there anything NEW to learn in it? I am very much interested in P's post 80's career and sad to see there's so little data on it compared to the 80's, so an informative boojk about the 90's is of interest to me, but not if it's just reviews from papers. I remember that story from the book. But... you do realize that Prince composed SISIA on 04/21 1986, then this, then his death... What happened in Prince's life on 04/21/1966, 04/21/1976 and 04/21 2006? (No conspiracy nonsense here, just amazement at life's coincidences, though it's not impossible there's some subconscious stuff there as well, from a purely psychanalytic perspective). Yes - just to satiate curiousity, I would like to know the same!

I did not learn anything new from reading the book. Most hardcore fans would not. All of the info in the book has been published before in the newpaper. And the author is not what I would call an investigatoive reporter. Many of the columns were I went to PP and he played these songs, so and so was there, it was good. It is a Prince Lite book. Hope this helps.

No. There was reportedly an incident involving wine and an alleged overdose of painkillers on 21 April 1996. Prince was reportedly found unconcious in the studio by Mayte and needed hospital treatment. Allegedly, he was suffering from anxiety and palpitations and self-medicated.
This story has been circulating for many years. Realising the date it was said to have occured on stunned me when I realised it was the same date Prince passed on twenty years later. Obviously 'Sometimes it Snows in April' was also recorded on April 21 1986.

Has anyone read this book yet? IF so, can someone please tell me what page Prince said WB killed him if he dies on the tour (older tour)?? I asked Prince what he was planning to do. On my review copy it is on page 30. It was in the chapter Early Christmas Gift. December 12, 1995 He does not say WB will kill him He just says He is going to Japan and he is concerned and if anything happens to me I want you to know.

Asprin is also used as a blood thinner and given to patients to prevent blood clots. Baby, you're a star.

. Wait, the other guy said this was "before he went on the Emancipation" tour. Unless I'm mistaken, Emancipation was released in late 1996. Now this conversation is supposed to have happened a year earlier? You'd think that someone repeating this ludicrous accusation would not be mistaken BY A WHOLE FUCKING YEAR. © Bart Van Hemelen

I'll get this book as I loved the 90's (and miss it terribly!) but, I think it's so bizarre that musicians are scared of the music industry killing them! WTF? When Michael used to say it I thought he was wacky, now it's a standard statement, it seems. I never thought Prince had these fears. Interesting.
