They gave Prince more time then they did Bowie. And Prince was 1st.

Prince was in the first segment of the show. He looked so young. I still can't believe he died. They did a beautiful tribute to him. He would have been so proud. He really was one of a kind - a true icon and legend!!!

Amen, Twinnies and penny
He was FIRST in the lineup - and they gave him almost SIX full minutes! FINALLY! Thank you God. They got a few details wrong but overall they did a nice job. He deserved it. Thank you, ABC. [Edited 12/24/16 5:03am]

Yeah I noticed that too. They claimed Prince didn't want to participate in 'We are the world' because he was 'shy'. Prince didn't want to do the track because he thought it was a bad idea. It had nothing to do with him being too shy. :Pop Life live in Detroit:

They did a great little piece on Prince.

As I continue to watch this show (at my own pace as I have it taped) I'm realizing that they have Prince SO much more than anyone else for 2016. He and Muhammad Ali have larger photos and are in the center of all the other photos of lost legends behind the hosts. But Prince's picture is the most noticeable.

It had nothing to do with him being too shy. Yes. They also said he had "back" pain only, but the biggest misconception was that they said he died of a self-administered overdose of fentanyl which is true based on what we know, but I felt that implied that he knew he was taking fentanyl.

Yeah I noticed the great recognition they gave Prince. I was shocked that Bowie only got 5 minutes. :Pop Life live in Detroit:

Sounds like a great tribute

I just compared the video link to my actual tape from last night and the link is the full segment. The show's introduction was longer than I realized so I've edited my post saying it was closer to 9 minutes. They gave him almost 6 full minutes. Amazing.

Yeah, way too short and the last minute was all about his death. Did anyone else spot the Tambourine lady at 3:41? I wonder how she is doing. Someone needs to do a documentary on the crazy, obsessed fans of Prince like her. There was another girl who used to wear a wedding gown with a veil and called herself Princess and would be at each of her shows. She scared me too. I wonder how all these folks are coping. Probably not well.

Wonderful tribute, and when the entire show was over, once again sadness.

Probably not well. They acknowledged that Prince was the most important legend who left us this year. I was very happy to see that 🙂💜 The wedding and tambourine lady...love them. They were all a part of this journey of Prince's life. I wonder how he thought of them? Probably with love, care and a little humor.
