Round Building at Paisley Park

Came across this: https://s-media-cache-ak0...580105.jpg

Some time ago there was mention of blueprints - of a Symbol shaped house Prince planned to have built - for sale on eBay. Could this be it or, was the "Egg" the start of something bigger?

I don't think so. It's always been what it is. In the beginning I heard it was going to be offices, then maybe a health food restaurant, and other random things. In the end it was, and still is, being used for storage. The building is somewhat in disrepair I noticed and could use some TLC.

If you search on here, those blueprints, plus endless discussion of the building are still on the Org. I think it's not quite big enough to house all that's inside it on the blueprint, especially 4 cars There's no way that building is that big, plus have all the other stuff.

No, rather I think that blueprint was for an entirely new structure, which frankly would have been fucking magnificent to see.

-/According to engineers he stored stuff in that building and it has a tunnel under the ground do you do not have to go outside to get to it.

That would then cover that mysterious underground cave that's been rumored. LOL
I've also seen a report that he wanted a buildings shaped like a music note, which The Egg is: a whole note.

I feel like it was either Steve Parke, or Sam Jennings (probably Sam?) that recently talked about this on their Facebook page. They talked about how it was just a storage building at this point. Lots of videos, files, photos, etc. Just random shit.

Someone tweeted a photo of the inside recently afte P's death and it was pretty much just a concrete shell that was unfinished. Water puddles everywhere and a leaky roof. I don't think there was anything being stored in there. I always thought it would be awsome if he would have fixed it up and have concerts in the round there. Like so many things at Paisley though it seemed to be stuck in a time warp of being unfinished or unchanged. Prince had piles of money to do things around there but not a lot seemed to change because he was busy with music.

According to an interview with Dave one of his engineers on the Dr. Funk podcast the building was used for storage and the tunnel was so you would not have to go into cold. He also said that originally it was suppose to be restuarant but the plans fell through. I do not think everything Prince did was weird or mysterious.

Stop the presses! I actually agree with everything Laura just said! omfg eyepop nutty

But yeah, the restaurant thing was the story from day one pretty much. The storage and tunnel things probably trickled out later.

When you think of the work Graceland had to have done in order to open PP, I wonder if Prince just didn't care about material things anymore. Originally, I thought he didn't have the cash to keep the building complex up; that may have been the case somewhat, but PP used to be repainted every six months at one point. I read the Egg exterior finish was not of the quality of PP. He changed. He just changed.

--Remember he was turning Paisley Park into a museum so since a lot of the exhibit s were completed he may have put his money into that part of it. Remember he was going to get 25k from renting out to the mixed blood theater and let's assume he was would have gotten something similar from Make-A-Wish. Maybe he was going to use that money to get the infrastructure fixed up to ready it go the museum. I think he had a lot of things on his plate and maybe have been beleaguered with health issues and yes joint pain/pain med dependence is a health issue it does not mean he was a incompetent I think he was just forced to move slow on this project.

I think he had the idea for a round building just for the looks of it, as a complement to the angles of the main building.

It actually would be a fine restaurant/meeting area now, if rehashed.

1Sasha, I don't know anything about the egg.

However, as to the work done to PP prior to it opening, I alsways assumed that work was to bring PP up to 2016 building code standards.

.

For example my house was build in the 70's and the door from the garage to the house is only 32 inches wide, if my house was built today that doorway would have to be 36 inches wide.

.

Building codes change over the years, height, width of doorways, wiring, number of outlets.... stuff like that. My impression wasn't that PP was in disrepair, but since the building's intended use had changed then updating to 2016 building code standards would apply, hence 'repairs' and work done to open PP.

.

My guess, the town building inspector and fire inspector probably made recomendations prior to issuing a new CO for a museum.

.

Just my personal impresssion when the repairs were discussed on the news.

.

I really have no first hand knowledge, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Peace. smile

I wish they would display his ashes there. Put them in a beautiful white polished marble urn. Encase it in glass in the center of the room. Rope it off all the way around, maybe have a little seating on risers against the walls for people who want to sit and reflect a moment, or cry ( like I would ). Or surround the glass case with a wishing well-type pool - because he's a water sign - where people could throw coins in as a symbol of remembrance or prayers going up to him. Donate the monies periodically to animal shelters in the area since he loved animals. His slow tunes playing, tasteful decor and lighting. Make it beautiful, serene and classy, just like he was. Somewhere we could mourn for him, since we never got anything like that from the beginning !!!!! Just sayin' ..... what would ya'll do ?

Everything you think is true

---It read to me as if the Graceland people had to upgrade for the museum opening came off as building code stuff. The only thing that sounded as if it had been neglected was the HVAC system which for all we know could have broken sometime after he died.

It had to be a little arena for live performances, there was a tunnel from PP, and an elevator should bring him up from the basement up to the arena level, then he changed his mind and he left it unfinished storing miscellanous stuff in it

Roof repairs also, which were likely to The Egg.
The HVAC was probably 30+ years old and not as efficient as newer systems.
Plus, buildings codes are different for public buildings. For instance, you have to have a certain number of restrooms to support the licensed crowd size.

I doubt that Paisley was in real disrepair. P had redone the soundstage with new carpeting, paint and plants just for the PAAM shows there in January.
PP was his baby, his favorite place.

I believe a small section of the soundstage was remodeled - not the entire thing.

The entire soundstage was carpeted. I haven't noticed any changes since April 2016 to now as far as the structure goes. Lots of visual changes though.

Isn't it unusual for a soundstage to have a carpeted floor?
