Of course I would have, anyone would have to save his life. But most people probably weren't aware of the danger he was in, and those that were he probably kept at arms length. You weren't taking him to a doctor unless he wanted to go.

Yeah, thank you. I don't like the implication of the question. Obviously the people around him were doing their best to get him help.

--- He was at his doctor the day before for all we know his Doctor may have been okay with him going home and even if not you can not admit someone against their will.

And he left the hospital against the doctors orders when they had the emergency landing only days before his death. Prince was a strong willed man that was used to being in control. It's sad how very out of control his life actually was toward the end.

So the hospital would willingly let him leave after almost dying of an overdose? Hard to believe, but I wasn't there.

---Yes, once they stabilize you are free to leave. The big mystery is why he waited until Wednesday to see Dr. S. Of course we do not have any way of knowing if he saw a doctor when he got back immediatly or not.

Yea, it true. You're free to leave once you're stable. It's sort of like a patient coming in with a b/p thats 293/135. Once they stabilize you, they pretty much send you on your way.

Oh, come on. The people around him were doing something--have you guys forgotten that his body was found by the son of a doctor who was brought in to Prince's case in order to help manage pain without the opiods? Sure, we can all say that people should have done something sooner--but Prince ultimately had to go along with it. And he probably was by the end... certainly there are things that suggest that he had been trying to come off the pills, and that a lowered tolerance from that attempt contributed to his death (along with the fact that the pills he seems to have taken on the fatal night were a stronger drug than "advertised," and probably not what he was used to or expecting).

I'm impressed that so many of you would have done something (even if he were kicking and screaming)--that's easy to say today, from where you're sitting. It was probably a lot harder for anyone actually in a position to do anything--and probably until the incident on the plane, no one was gonna get anywhere with Prince beyond what he was already doing. But once that happened, things seem to have been moving. Not fast enough, in retrospect--but people let people they care about do a lot of dangerous and stupid things for a long time every day... I can't say what I would have done--but if I were in a position to do anything, there would have been a relationship with its already existing parameters. Some people with special relationships might have been able to push Prince on something like this--but I don't think most could. And that's the reality that the people who knew what was going on were probably facing. Push at the wrong time, and they would no longer be able to push when an opportune moment came. Maybe they waited too long--oraybe the moment was right, but counterfeit pills and one extra night made all the difference.

Or Prince may have balked the next morning even if he'd lived, and it all would have happened some other day anyway. Or not. It's all idle speculation, and idle declarations that "I would have done something for Prince." You couldn't have. You weren't there. And you don't know what was happening or what could have been done at what point.

EDIT: I'm not sure what posts I was reading, since I seem to have made some up in my head where lots of people were saying that they'd act. It's late, and I seem to be not thinking well. Anyway, what I say about speculation is more or less still true, so I'll leave the post.

What I find strange is that for all of his performing years, he never looked strung out on drugs, protested using them, and then the last 2 years of his life becomes majorly addicted. He was either in considerable pain to go as far as he did by using fentyl so something was wrong in the end. Was it depression? His music not selling well? His inability to perform? Crippling Arthritis? Just so sad we lostvhim. He is the only performer that I she'd a tear for. Rock the heavens Prince.

It was not Fentenyl as they did not find him to be a long term user based on the fact that none was found in his system from prior medical test the day before. Kevin Smith said back in 2002 when he was working on the documentry that one day Prince told him he could not particpate because his knees were hurting. Think about 2002 and no surgery until 2010.

No way was Prince strung out on pain pills for almost 15 years. In fact I do not believe he was strung out at all. I think he cut off his RX decided he was going to keep taking them any way and probaly managed it fine until he started to get bad batches which started to make him ill.

I really do not think he knew in the final days what exactly he was taking. The key to all of this is what test he had run by Dr. S the day before. That would let us know what the doctor was looking for as far as his over all health.
