I also love this song and just bought the maxi-single the other day. There's a version without the guitar solo and the remix version is off the chain, Prince gets real emotional, I'm also feelin the Eric Leeds mix where it's just a jazzy flute and horns version . . . .

I Hate U is probably one of Prince's best songs of all time! The courtroom bit is INSANE, I love it, it's so weirdly emotional. If you dont like it there are versions on the Maxi without it

This is the song that got me frothing for the Gold album release in the first place. When he did that little bit of it on the American lipsinc awards in 94 it really blew me away. The sweeping chorus, the genius sweet synth melody. One of his best uses of the falsetto. Not the strained pansy falsetto on the first two albums. Then the song get's artsy and dramatic and has some of the funniest lyrics ever. This is a classic, and all you tin ear haters ease back. lol.
