sonshine said: What load of crap. Toxic masculinity "reigned" in 2016? But not in 2015, or 1915?? What exactly is that anyway? And these men she named showed there is no one right way to be a man - wth does that even mean?!? Is she saying they were toxic too, or they were being men the right way?? Sounds like a nut job to me. Statements like that are what gives feminism a bad name. She tries to come off smart, but is merely confusing and contradictory. She's talking about Donald Trump and his supporters that actually got behind the misogyny in his own recorded statements. Part of the election was built on trying to regain a past sense of masculinity that they reported lost. They tied in trans issues, political correctness, and the natural disposition of the true conservative America male into the message. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

people wanting third bathrooms and shit, i think a lot of it is just back lash against all the ridiculous shit like that. it's to the point where people who didn't even like him voted for him.

another very ironic thing, speaking of presidents, Prince always seemed to admire ronald reagan and said he had "balls" in an early 80's interview. Reagan didn't do a damned thing for black people did he? Ali fell under his spell too, just because Reagan wanted school prayer. No ones' perfect.

I hate to repeat this, but I don't give a f--k about white cismales in general. Of course I know there are good and bad people, but it's not my job (or any feminist's job for the matter) to reassure white cismales that not all white cismales are bad guys. When someone says that people need to stop polluting air or making wars, will get angry and shout you are a good person even though no one was talking about you specifically and that there are lots of people who can stop wars and polluting air, but do nothing about it? full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

hold it, feminists hate cis males? is that transmen or gay men? white? I'd never ever heard that.

I am from the 20th century. This is very confusing to me. I like alpha males - I like their strength and assertiveness. They all, no matter what race, tend to share the same characteristics. However, based upon experience, they can be abusive in a variety of ways: they didn't get to the top by being passive. So it is important to be as strong as they are. I have run a business for a long time, so being the boss is not new to me. And alpha females can also be abusive. I have seen that in action, too.

I never said it was anybody's job to reassure us white straight males. But i will not be tarred with the same brush as the bad people. I will never hate one gender and race because of some bad apples. I don't start any wars i have no power i will take each person on face value and not be bigoted and sexist against a certain gender or race. Peace. Add i was not having ago at all feminists. I don't hate anybody and i do give a f@@k about everybody. [Edited 12/27/16 9:28am]

Cis only means that you've had the same gender for your whole life. You can be of any sexual orientation, race and gender. For example, I am cis, too, but I'm a pansexual white EE woman. You can also have cis homosexual black women, for example. full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

So why do you write here wrong definitions of toxic masculinity if you say you care about everybody? Just saying... full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

You have power in some areas. Just because you are disadvantaged in some areas (being working class) doesn't mean you ain't advantaged at all. As a British person, you are part of the first world and you can vote in British elections. And as a man, you can't be a victim of catcalling, you are less likely to be a victim of gender-based violence, you are not viewed as an unsuitable job candidate because you could become a parent, hygiene products for your gender are cheaper and you are not expected to take that much care of your appearance as I have to. full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

I did not write the wrong definition toxic means bad right. How you got i don't care for everybody from that i don't know. Have a good day

I can vote but don't. I can also be slapped on my backside by a female co- worker but that's ok i'm just a man i'm not the victim.

The labels are getting more ridiculous by the moment. There are men and women. If you FEEL like you are something other than that, then that is a psychological issue. However, the branding of those who do not feel other than what that are by this small community of people needs to be rejected. I'm a man period.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Let's just put up all the labels you've attached to yourself in this thread alone and go from there...
1. Straight 2. White 3. Working class 4. British 5. Male
Now, while you may not weild the "power" you want in terms of money, influence, accolades, success (however you may define it), as a straight White working class British man, your privilege IS your power.
So I guess I agree that yes, any straight White man who refuses to acknowledge his privilege over other "powerless" and historically oppressed groups of humans is the definition of "toxic masculinity".

What??? My head is spinning. So, with all that said, you are a woman, right?

To me, that song is fine. I see it as a sadomasochistic sexual fantasy. It might not be everyone's taste, but as long as it's consensual, I see no problem with it. full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

If I understand that correctly, Guitarhero is talking about a hypothetical situation. Personally, I think it's less likely that a man would be a victim of harassment by a woman of equal standing, but if that happened, I think his case would be taken more seriously. I don't know a woman that would do this, especially if the man said he wouldn't feel comfortable. After all, we women know that odds are against us and approaching a man like this would require a lot of confidence. Whereas men don't have to worry too much if they advance without consent. full lips, freckles, and upturned nose

Let's not perpetuate the myth that feminists can't think their way out of a paper bag. I happen to be a crabby old one and Guitarhero is one of the good guys, damn. Y'all ever BEEN to any of the photo threads? All Hero Brand new boogie without the hero.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Hypothetical or not, my statement stands. Unless GuitarHero would be so ashamed to be victimized by a woman that he wouldn't report it, for fear of losing masculinity points.
