I'm gonna need all Prince eras Video Game for Ps4 @nd Xbox 1!!!! Prince and all band members of all eras in a video game by Ubisoft company like just dance i need to write them in request or a vote or something but i really know it's through the family to send a note constantly to approve that's its a lucrative for the Pasiley Park estate to keep p alive in spirit of something new rather than keep being impatient for new vault materials to be released in full instead of trial sampling no offense.....Just Saying....

Allow me to introduce you to a full stop. .
Though I'm not sure even a few of those correctly placed would aid my comprehension of your post.
And that was your third draft too. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it! |

Prince was actually approached to do a "Rock Band" style game before (or at least to have his music included in one of those games), and he declined. |

Man I forgot how toxic this place can be sometimes.
Look I'm an avid gamer but a Prince game is not something I would like to experience. |

I wonder if Prince would have been more amenable to a Rocksmith than a Rockband game? For those who don't know what they are, Rockband/guitar hero is a guitar shaped and sized controller that has some basic buttons that can create the affect of playing guitar. It's fun but as Prince was so keen for kids to take up instruments, he may have seen this "alternative" as highly reductive and pointless.
Rocksmith however allows you to plug a real guitar into your console and has programs and songs to teach you to play. It's basically guitar hero with a real guitar. A Prince version of that would be fantastic in my opinion and would absolutely be an incentive to learn to play guitar for me. [Edited 12/21/16 17:41pm]

I remember the news when it broke. IIRC Prince's problem was that after learning to play one of his songs in the game... a person would not result in the same person being able to play one of his songs on an actual instrument. What I never fully understood - the tech was there. I can play a chord on my guitar and my mobile phone (or at least an app (GuitarTuna)) can tell me which chord I've just played.
I often wondered if he was ever approached to be a character in a game. Just his style and the way he looked would have been great.
On the D&P album there's the line about your "Cartridge not fitting in your video game". I seem to remember a lot of Street Fighter 2 samples being used live around '94/'95.
Interestingly the character "Rain" from "Mortal Kombat" was based loosely on P.
PSB: Speaking of Rain, he was originally hinted at in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. What was the genesis of Rain?
Rain was me being a jerk, basically. [laughs] When we were working on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, I was thinking “what ninja color have we not done yet?” … and I’m a huge Prince fan, so I was thinking Purple Rain. I was probably still listening to the album. There was no time to actually make a character, because the game was done. So I hacked into the attract screen a quick little sequence of this purple ninja running at Shao Kahn. We didn’t even have the word “Rain” in the powerbar, so I manually built it using our font. So I included this quick glimpse just to drive people crazy. Once Mortal Kombat Trilogy came out, we gave Rain new moves and he finally became a real character. Later we brought him back for Mortal Kombat Armageddon. That’s one of the things about Mortal Kombat: many of the characters have these goofy development histories. Noob Saibot, Reptile…all of these odd origin stories.

Yep. I actually posted about this earlier this year, not too long before Prince passed.
I love Mortal Kombat, I'd recently been playing MKXL on the PS4 when I found out about Rain's origin

If Michael Jackson can do music for Sonic 3 and appear in Space Channel 5 Part II then it would be interesting to see Prince do music for a video game but probably remained unused. but sadly he wasn't Michael so it will never happen. I hate this year. |
