I LOVE footage of him dancing - he was pretty damned good at it and barely broke a sweat - AND he carried on singing more or less throughout. Impressive stuff!

Wow amazing!! Prince definitely has the edge over Michael Jackson. There are so many dimensions of Prince genius going on here in this treasure people recognize that there really is no battle. I feel the whole "Nothing Can Stop" campaign in fullest effect here.

i wonder who choreographed that, I always assumed Prince did it all but my god, that has to be a shitload of work not only doing his parts but telling the band what to do too.

That Floral SHirt and matching tie tho... That shirt looks like a couch on an episode of "Golden Girls". I cringed at some of those dance moves. Still scratch my head at seeing him with his butt backed up and thrusting through the other dancer's groin, but he wouldn't sing "Bad" with Michael Jackson? Not homophobic - just confounded.

i think everyone wondered about that one, big time. I still remember as clear as day watching that, and you know, Prince had really been sort of off the entire map since Purple Rain and Diamonds and Pearls was his big commercial concession. There were full page ads about the arsenio show and I thought he was simply brilliant throughout but as my man was going through the show I was like "ok, ya, he's doing it, he's showing everyone, ya, right on," then, as soon as he did that I thought "uh oh, he just lost it".

still, barring the bootie humping move, that was a feast for the eyes and just makes me wonder "how did he do it"? Just a superman.

That particular dance move was one of the highlights of that era for many that appreciated Prince's bold form of gender binary expression that challenged what was/is considered to be "social norms".

I wonder if this was filmed for that unreleased tour documentary he had made around that time for POV Films. Seems like rehearsal footage spliced together. We saw a bit of this in the Omnibus documentary. Very cool to see the whole thing. I loved seeing it on Arsenio back in the day, too. I remember reading that the actual Daddy Pop video was filmed in LA and featured trampolines. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Based on the Levi interview, this footage was probably shot for the Diamonds and Pearls: Video Collection because the interviews of Levi in the VHS are shot the same way. I always wondered what didn't make the final edit and if we would ever see any of it. Just affirms what so many have already said; there is so much wonderful stuff left to be seen/heard, especially as it relates to live music as well as interviews. I don't care as much about unreleased studio music, but I hope that more of the live music gets released as audio and video.

i'm sure it was but for some of us who always rooted for prince, and realizing that many people didn't like him, not just because of the homophobia but also because he was "strange", any of those people who might have been swayed by the rest of the performance, which was brilliant as usual, had to be going "oh goddamn, change the channel". Personally, i didn't care, i just knew it wouldn't help his cause. Didn't seem to hurt his sales though, it was his best selling album since PR i think. Also, i never heard a mention about that move, in those days the internet didn't exist for people to gossip and most people that you ran across really didn't care one way or the other or even watch.
