Just after his passing I didn't want to hear any other music, but that phase has passed and I'm back to normal, digging everything. But I'm happy for clover that you're ready to enjoy his music again! biggrin comfort

.

Thanks, NorthC!! It's starting to get a little better now. hug

i always listened to lots of Prince but i've been listening to more. sure i get sad and choked up sometime when I'm listening and I do hear some of the songs differently, especially the ones on his last 3 albums. You can here he's already got one foot in the grave on some of those songs and he doesn't really seem to be too upset about it. Elvis' song, Way Down, sounds hellish instrumentally, lyrically he's describing his predicament with the pills but..., he's actually sounds eager and thrilled at the experience of death and an after life. Prince's Way Back Home is his version of that but he sounds resigned and accepting, not particularly eager but not upset either. I could see that one being hard to listen to.

.

Interesting. I know what you mean though. I find that listening to his earlier work is easier for me than listening to his work in the past few years. Sounds kinda strange, but..... confused

i have trouble listening to his more recent albums like the hit 'n run series, because i remember how he played them for us at Paisley Park and it still breaks my heart that he's gone.

but i've been listening to a lot of old favorites like emancipation, crystal ball, chaos and disorder and such. for some reason that's comforting

.

Yea, I know what you mean. I'm sorry. hug

I can only listen to Prince. Like the other commenter said, everything else seems so lame. God, I hate that he's gone from us.

I wanted to add that I feel that way too. I can't figure out exactly what it is that I don't like about other music besides Prince. Ever since Prince passed, all other music sounds generic, simple, maybe a little distorted.
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.
