Londell/Nelson Family - Please consider

Surely you are considering the usual Remasters, Live albums and unreleased sets but I hope you do it all in a tasteful manner has he would have.

The 80s albums (especially) are in need of a remaster. Some of his greatest stuff sounds terrible. There is a market out there for Hi Res/DSD recordings. I know Prince was not really into all that but that does not mean it should be ignored now. The family needs to make money and these are respectful ways to do so.

Live - There must be a reason why he recorded all his shows. I would say the Piano and Mic show should see a release some how, someway. However, a boxed set(s) of all of his elaborate tours should be seen by the world. THese were extravaganzas and no one does this anymore. I'm talking Parade, SOTT, Lovesexy, Nude, D&P, Act 1/2, Gold etc. Everything. The effort he put into all of that needs to be shared...

But, pls do not put junk out like WB just did with Moonbeam Levels. I have a bootleg version that actually sounds better (louder) than what is on 4Ever.

Art - There is a lot paintings/pics/posters that can be sold. I have been sitting here wondering what I can buy and there is pretty much nothing. I'm actully going to acoustic panel stores asking if they can print pics of him on fabric so I can wrap my panels. They say others are calling for the same reason...so, the family/estate has to come up with all of these ideas. There are so many of us willing to help.

I will add another yes. Can we add all the concerts from Dirty Mind , Controversy, 1999 and Purple Rain tours too beg It shows his growth as a live performer.

i really think the focus should be on the live material...a blue ray. The bootleggers just smoked everyone with the AWESOME release of the Montreux shows from 2013. I paid $50 US...I would very happily have paid more if there was a physical release with art, and liner notes.

The family should do what Prince never did, take a look at what the bootleggers are doing and move in that direction.

There has been a 35 year fasination with his unreleased material. With so much access now, the family needs to get someting out quickly of high quality. Piano and Mic seems like the best thing to build the momentum.

Agreed. You can tell he really hadn't found himself yet as an onstage performer during the Dirty Mind and Controversy tours. I'd love to see footage of these tours in particular because he was so raw and full of attitude before he cleaned up his show.

There is much to be done with the future of Prince's music. As it stands, they are looking for a new administrator to manage Prince's estate, so it may be a while before things are in order. I would love to see Prince's movies available on Netflix, and I think his music should be readily available and not just exclusive to one distributor, like Tidal. I too would love to see his earlier work remastered. I just hope whomever is in charge will do the right thing to preserve Prince's legacy.

I would not doubt it. Prince was known to record conversations, meetings, interviews, contracts.

From the looks of court filings today, you can leave Londell out of this equation and try Van Jones.

The Peach an Black guys made a great suggestion on their last podcast...either open a club or make an online store and make available his live shows....audio and video. I woukd say you now consult fans, like me, who c help explain w are his greatest shows, after shows, etc. The bootleggers at just killing it with limited access.

Additionally, some deals should be struck quickly. Regular releases...

I agree with the live stuff getting released. I would always buy a real version of the bootleg shows circulating. I was in montreux in 2013, and am waiting for the official release. I would prefer the post warners stuff get more focus than warners recordings. I really want all the Npg records releases in vinyl. I have 3 or 4 versions of his early warners releases and even if they are remastered it is not new music. They should wait a few years for that. Prince deserves that his post warners legacy gets preserved and I don't want to see warners be the only ones that profit. The rainbow children should be in every shop and available on vinyl.

I bought 4ever, but feel hustled by WB. It's time for NPGMUSICCLUB and NPG records to take over again. This is what Prince fought for.

I'm sure he taped it all because he knew what we knew before he died...that he was creating a true legacy that wouldn't be really looked at closely until after. Wise courageous man he was.

I would say those request threads are somewhat useless at this point because...

1/ To expect the people in charge, let alone Mr. super rich super busy businessman Londell McMillan, to read the org is pretty optimistic

2/ To expect them to just say "oh yeah now that you mention it, God we'd never seen it that way" and comply with any thread request is pretty childish

.

However it is not unthinkable that at some point Tyka or the estate may reach out for us fan, create links with the community and have the occasional "what do you want us to release next?" survey, or at least take our feed-back on what they release and how they release it into account. It would actually be totally cool if they did that and at some point it may be wise because past the occasional mainbstream release, the bulk of what's in the vault will be niche releases for a niche audience, i.e. the hardcore fanbase. But until they choose to do so I believe praying to God is all we got nod

Recorded AND filmed (though not necessarily multi angle).

And every rehearsal was recorded, too.

It is true.

It is believed (although not officially confirmed) that he received a recording of every show. This may be the case with the audio, but not video.

Prince seemed to suggest that he would review video of main tour shows to make changes and improvements, but many smaller gigs and aftershows didn't show signs of video.

At smaller venues I've had the opportunity to wonder the place while the gig is on and seen nothing. Not even a single camera at the lighting controls (the most likely position), soundboard, security view or stage side.

In the 2012-15 shows, he had one guy (was it Donna's man?) carry an canon DSLR video hand cam, and he'd record the odd track, but not the whole show. When I spoke to various on site engineers, they all confirmed that the audio was recorded, but no video beyond the hand cam.

I could have missed a camera at some shows, but it would also beg the question, if Prince and really had video of every show, then the vault (for at least the pre digital years) would need to be much bigger than the images and plans of it suggest.

Even with audio only, if u add every rehearsal, IDK how everything would fit in. I think an engineer once said that by the mid or late 90's the room was filled up to the ceiling. IDK what happened after that: maybe a second vault or digital files saved the day. Light will be shed on all this in due time.
