I did enjoy it! Great review!! I wish the members of the Recording Academy had read this before they announced this year's Grammy nominations.

Loved the review. You nailed the esssence of it. I am obviously a P fan, yet I understood why some of his other recent albums got mediocre reviews but not this one. I agree with you that some non-fans might like it way more than they would expect. Thanks for setting the record straight!

Agreed. I believe a lack of sales and promotion are the reasons why 'HITnRUN Phase Two' didn't appear on the Academy's radar. As a result, it's our responsibility as music enthusiasts to keep Prince's legacy alive via buying records, expressing our views on social media or (in my case) creative writing.

It warms my heart to know that you (as well as Ida Nielsen and Prince biographer Matt Thorne via Twitter) enjoyed my tribute! Art Official Age and HITnRUN Phase Two are two of Prince's finest albums since The Rainbow Children so, like you, I'm surprised that these titles didn't generate more buzz. Either way, we have to continue to keep his legacy alive by speaking from a place of context and intelligence.

I could not agree more. It seems that Prince was quite inspired during his time collaborating with Andy Allo. She inspired, arguably, some of his best ballads ever.

VIBE wrote an article this year claiming Prince found inspiration in everyone involved in the making of HITnRUN Phase Two. To know that he still viewed himself as a student, despite his iconic stature to us, speaks volumes about him.

It was a sign of his true humility to remain teachable and be inspired from so may people around him. I can understand today why he loved young people! Thank you for this article. So very well done!

Not that I don't like them, far from it, I love them, especially Phase Two. The problem was that even now, very few people outside of his fanbase know of their existence. Without major label support, even artists like Prince will struggle to sell. But that doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the music though. Or, indeed, my enjoyment of your review, which I think is spot on.

As a Bob Dylan AND a George Clinton fan, I just love the term "folkadelic". [Edited 12/10/16 12:54pm]

Here's Chris Lacy's great review of Art Official Age. Apparently, the original thread is no longer working. http://www.albumism.com/f...ficial-age
