Prince Rock Songs My father-in-law is a pretty music savvy who has been very cool about my emotions since Prince's passing. His favorite artists are groups like Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and the like. He totally respects Prince as an artist but only really knows the hits. I am putting together a playlist for him and wanted your imput as to what Prince rock songs I should include. Thanks in advance.

I used to have a playlist of Prince rock songs. I had once expanded it to include black artists who did a rock song, and it was pretty great to listen to. I included things like Janet's "Black Cat", and "What About", MJ's "Morphine" and "Beat It", and En Vogue's "Free Your Mind". Crimson and Clover (cover) I know someone above mentioned Lotus Flower which this is on but I don't think there are enough "rock" songs on the record to include it as a whole. But I can't think of anything else other than what's already been suggested. I'll have to look for C & D since that's one record I don't have and most of the people I live with are into classic rock too. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

AC/DC, Van Halen, Doobie Bros, Steely Dan, Boston, Cream.......yeah I think pops will be surprised when he hears Prince's rock side. He will probably be more impressed when he discovers Prince was as funky as James Brown, Sly, Otis, and Wilson......but could be as smoooooooooth as Al Green and Marvin Gaye. Lot of genre in a small package!
Oh and Prince and the Rebels stuff is out of this world. There used to be a 20 minute segment on the net that had about 4-5 songs on it. I see that two were mentioned above.

The Paisley Park Dance Rally for Peace, minus The Whole of the Moon, with Question of U/Electric Man/The One from the Baltimore Dance Rally 4 Peae tacked on the end. It makes an incredible live rock album. Or The Undertaker. Hundalasiliah!

You could always throw HARDROCKLOVER on there for the sheer amusement value. "Ain't no rapper tryin' to be a singer gonna make her moan" might resonate with him!
