Massively. I love The Dawn collection so much as it represents my favourite era but I don't kid myself that it is any way, shape or form what prince would have released with that title.

According to Princevault a triple album comprising mostly of material that would end-up on Come and TGE, with possibly some additional songs that ended-up on COTS, C&D, TVOF4S and Emancipation as well as other unreleased material from those days was considered and most likely assembled in late 1993 or maybe as late as early 1994, but the tracklist is unknown. Boris' version comprises tracks recorded as late as early 1996 so it can't possibly reflect that project, but it'd have been something in that vein.

Of all his projects this would have to be the Holy Grail. Pressumably, none of the intended tracks have been heard.

Wasn't The Divine intended for inclusion? He also talked about DAWN around the time of Emancipation in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Well a press release is, for one thing, an official source. It would be absurd to overlook the info.

As for The Dawn I believe their source is the Nilsen research, though I remember that as early as late 93 or early 94 rumor was among fans that this 3 CD set was in the works. What I'm certain of is that Princevault did not invent it and that if they mention itit must be based on more than a mere rumor.

It is a lovely review by somebody who clearly adores Prince's music, with some cool graphics - and here he gets slammed for minor factual inadequancy.... Only on Prince.org

I know, u're right. I'm just deeply attached to facts and I believe them to be the basis of his job - he's a profesionnal journalist after all isn't he? But yeah, it was an act of love and I was a little unfair I'll gladly give u that.
