A new DVD set of the 2013 Montreux shows are circulating. They, like the 2009 DVDs, are the best looking concert footage of his whole career. The greatest live musican of all time has his legecy furthered and protected by bootleggers. WB...Nelson Family - wake up. PUtting out a weak Greatest Hits album after people bought loads of them just 7 months ago was a dumb idea. Releasing Moonbeam Levels in quality that is pretty much the same as the one I got last year is embaressing. Of course, i can see the trouble you're in as he left us w/o a will but the bootleggers are eating your lunch.

These videos are INCREDIBLE for a few reasons. First, it appears real pros did the recording. The shots are SUPER. Second, the shows are just unparalleled. I'd been blasting the sound board audios all summer. Show 3 (which I thought was the weakest in audio) is the best to watch b/c he just goes nuts and it's all captured so well.

I will say, this is very raw. There are shots at times of Cassandra looking less than enthused...normaly surely during a full concert but it would have been edited out if it were an official release. THen there is Hannah, and I can only describe it as, looking scared. Same goes for Ida, less so Donna. It just looks like they are so tentative. Although, i would not have known listening cuz the shows sounded so amazing. When Gouche comes in '4 bars late' an is called out, he gives a look...that would have been edited out! It was funny though...as was the part where he is about to say something when the trumpet player starts in again with his eyes closed....also the part where he is about to dive into 'all the flowers that you planted mama'...his mic may have cut out but the look on his face is...priceless.....the video is super for all of these 'warts'.

However, Prince himself actually looked older than I'd ever seen him. The resolution, although not HD, was good enough to show that he was indeed not a young man anymore. Still, he looked so in control. He was at ease.....

While we wait for the estate to sort things out......and for WB to get an imagination, thank goodness for the bootleggers. I don't like it that they are making money off of him but the good they do in extending and furthering his legacy....is something only they are doing.

Yeah..I've seen it and it's pretty damn good..the horns are phenomenal…I’d still buy it..

Yes, fair point but we're talking Prince here...the guy was productive. The bootleggers will keep doing this as long as offical releases continue not to come out. Now when he was with us, it was his choice and I STILL loved it that 2009 Montreux came out. However, now, the family/estate needs money...so some quick deals must be happen or else the bootleggers will just keep rolling this stuff out. Someone made money here ...someone who had access sold the recordings. Somehow, some way, all this stuff will start to come out. So, does the family make money or not?
