They had a lot of respect for each other, absolutely senseless to compare the two here. By the way, if I recall correctly, George was at the Tränenpalast show in 1994 after the MTV Music Awards. My memories are a bit blurry but I think I saw Prince walking up the stairs toward George back then and they talked briefly. Jean Paul Gaultier and Naomi Campbell were standing right next to me, and German singer Herbert Grönemeyer was right behind me. Seriously, let both people rest in peace. I don´t like these comparisons.

All I know is that we'll learn what happened to George faster than what happened to Prince.

Prince's death was MUCH better than George Michael's.

In light of George Michael's recent death can we take this post down?

This thread was started BEFORE GM's death. If you don't like it, then pass over it. There is no need to take it down.

While browsing the news I found this new article on some website and it has a link to prince.org. It´s weird...this is not the first time I find a prince.org link in some article. Agree. Prince publicly supported George Michael in his fight with Sony...one of very few artists who did. And he stated they routinely talked about the business.

I love Michael Jackson AND I also love Prince and YES Prince was a butthole back in the day and there is nothing wrong with saying that. This comment is not the ONLY arrogant comment he made during that time and this is not the only Prince thread I have commented in but whatever.

Prince's death was MUCH better than George Michael's. Besides being a lame comment, it may not be true as there are rumors he had heroin issues the past couple years. He just wasn't found in an elevator. The way he was found...Idk, possible accidental or even deliberate OD "Almost all art is trying to become an anaesthetic and at the same time a healing session drawing up the magical electrics.”

George Michael’s ’90s Publicist Remembers Getting ‘Too Funky’ With the Pop LegendWhen Michael Pagnotta became the late George Michael’s exclusive U.S. publicist in the early ’90s, George was the second client signed to Pagnotta’s own publicity business, Reach Media — the first being an equally iconic and enigmatic pop star who also passed away in 2016, Prince.

^^^It appears that,in 1992,George made the comment "Prince needs to edit himself".

He ain't shit indeed, but his talent fade away since those few good songs on 'Older' album.

Pagnolli (or whatever his name is)might be the worst press agent ever. Is he not supposed to supply good press? Can't keep his mouth shut. First, he has Prince dissing George MIcheal (out of context obviously). Then, he has Michael dissing Prince (also probably taken out of context by some.). Dude can't keep conversations quiet once someone dies.

He aint the only, but he is the best.Only a layman couldn't see a difference between Prince and others musicians. And that's a pity.

> There were times when this was true. We all know this. I always felt that if someone was considering writing songs that they should listen to "The Best of George Michael". He wrote perfect pop songs.

Edit himself why? I loved every minute of it....in fact, I wish Prince had been more candid.

As far as I know, it was Elton John who said that, not George Michael. I have no idea why that quote was later attributed to George Michael. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Go back and re read the threads i posted that everyone should go listen to him sing somebody prior to his death.GM was the real deal as well.George was considered that blue eyed soul guy.Won r &b awards. He came along and YES stole some of prince's steam.Us 80 babies know this we were there. Then el debarge stole some of GM.Thats how it goes.People move on.

actually, i do feel kinda bad for some of the things I said. they weren't really meant malicious but i didn't know he'd die in two weeks.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
what i find surprising is that prince let the guy go for a few days, not the comment. I think action speaks louder than words here. Most stars of Prince's caliber, i don't think, would let someone jump ship to work with the competition for a few days and come back. I did mention how Elvis never took back a pianist who picked another artist over him when their tours were both happening at the same time. It never sounded like an ego thing particularly with Elvis, more like a business decision.

another interesting thing, Prince, at the time of the release for Rave, said in an interview that he wasn't that good of an editor. It think he used that behind the logic for putting "prince" when his name was still symbol in the producer slot. but just the fact that he mentioned it in any context is interesting.
